SEASONS & REASONS ………. “To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:” Ecc. 3:1 …………….. “I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”” Psalm 40:8 Sometimes the Lord brings us into a season of service for Him only to lead us out of that season into a new season, and it can be challenging to leave that season behind as well as to try to understand why the Lord would want us in that first season only to lead us out of it. The Lord leads us in and out of seasons in our lives – including in our service to Him – for HIS reasons for HIS glory. We don’t need to understand the reasons. We need to understand this. Jesus Christ is Lord, and we are to submit to Him in all things. Sometimes I have understood His reasons…

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14 One of the most brilliant lessons I’ve learned about serving the Lord is that there is a vast and vital difference between being led by the flesh and being led by the Spirit of God. Today, for the third time in just days, I ran into a homeless friend who had told me she knew I was coming back to New York City because God had given her a dream about my coming back. I hadn’t even known I was coming back! I was convinced when I left New York City about 8 or 9 months ago I would never return. Today, for the third time running into my homeless friend, I had the opportunity to talk to her about an aspect of her life that she needs to surrender to Christ along…

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” 1 John 5:4 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 “…If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11 “Don’t quit because it’s hard, because you don’t have the help you want, because you don’t believe I will bring you the help you need, because you feel the resources aren’t there,” the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. “THE ENEMY WANTS YOU TO QUIT.” The Lord had once again shortly before telling me this given me a word He has given me before – and will likely give me again. PERSEVERANCE.…

“But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Cor. 9:6-8 “I think you’re thanking the wrong one. It’s God that gives,” a brother in the Lord wrote me after I thanked him for his financial sponsorship of my ministry. There are three lessons in this, I believe, when it comes to serving the Lord. 1. Giving to a ministry or church or missionary or evangelist etc. is an act of service to the Lord. Oh, how much I wish people would see this more. It hurts…

TODAY’S SERVING JESUS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE You Can’t Do This! “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 If you don’t think the devil has a voice, think again. Better yet, read the Bible. He has a voice! He spoke to Jesus! His foul cohorts – all his demon buddies – have a wonderful time trying to mess up people’s lives. The devil’s mission is to steal, kill, and destroy. And though the devil absolutely cannot take away the forever relationship God gives those who turn from their sins and believe in Christ as Lord who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead, truly devoting our lives to God and His ways, the devil can try to…

Serving Behind the Scenes “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” 1 Peter 5:6 Some people love to be in the forefront. Some people prefer to be in the background. I believe when we’re totally surrendered to Jesus and to serving Him, we are willing to go wherever He sends us. Whether we’re in a position of serving where we’re essentially on the front lines and in the trenches. Or whether we’re so far behind the scenes it may seem like nobody knows we even exist. The point, friend, isn’t about how visible we are to others. It’s about how humbly lovingly reverently yielded we are to the Lord and His will for us. My sister in the Lord who faithfully co-labors with me in this ministry work is someone most of the world probably has no idea of what…

Privileged to Serve in the Thick of Life’s Battles…………. “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Even if I’m not healed I am just so blessed to be able to be a servant for the Lord,” a precious young loved one in my life shared with me. Those were her exact words. A mighty powerful message coming from someone years younger than me who has already gone through several life-threatening illnesses and is currently in the thick of her latest medical battle. Not to mention she has faced numerous other enormous trials in her life. Not only was she not complaining. Not only was there no self-pity. Not only was she not angry. All of which would have been totally understandable. All of which she may in fact experience at times since she is human just like the rest…

The Greatest Sorrow of All… “Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ” And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.” Luke 18:18-23 Why did the rich man become sorrowful in this Bible story? He wouldn’t give up his earthly riches to…

A Beautiful Blessing ………….. “I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also. Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.” Romans 16:1-4 “You are a beautiful blessing!” I declared emphatically to my friend, sister-in-the-Lord, and co-laborer in Christ. Yes, she’s all three. Friend. Sister through Christ. And co-worker in my labor of love for Jesus through this ministry. Know what stands out to me over and again in the letters toward the end of the Bible? It’s something for years I didn’t even notice.…

The Hotel Fire Alarm Story  “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season…” 2 Tim 4:1 “Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing.” Psalm 107:22 I needed sleep like you wouldn’t believe. So exhausted. So disoriented at first when I finally fell into a deep, deep sleep only to be woken by an unbelievably loud and relentless hotel fire alarm. Scramble, scramble. No longer disoriented. Desperate. Frantic. Hurry, hurry. Five special needs dogs. Two paralyzed. Trying to figure out how to get everyone out, into the car for some of them, into wheelchairs for two, leashes, run to the bathroom for me, oh, they would need to go, what should I take, where were my sneakers, what was I wearing, would I brush my teeth, etc. Honestly, by the time we were all outside in the middle of the night in the hotel parking lot, I barely knew…
