If you are clear God is calling you to do something, and you are resisting Him, please stop. Humble yourself, submit yourself to the Lord, and lovingly, faithfully, devotedly follow Him.
Turn from your sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, turn to God and His ways, receive God’s forgiveness and the promise of forever life with Him and the indwelling of His Holy Spirit. Spend time in His presence, praise Him, worship Him, sing to Him, be transformed by Him, pray to Him, seek Him, read the Bible, wait on Him, hear Him, seek godly counsel if/when/as He leads you. And when you are clear what God is speaking to your heart, when you know what He is calling you to do, please don’t hesitate. Please don’t resist God. Don’t debate. Don’t argue. Don’t rebel. Don’t run the other way. Don’t pretend you haven’t heard. Surrender yourself to God and obey no matter the cost to your personal dreams, desires, wishes, ways, and wants.
I was struck one day by the simplicity and powerfulness of what happened when Jesus told Matthew to follow Him. No holding back. He didn’t resist God, hesitate, debate, argue, question, argue, rebel, run the other way, etc. Matthew just got up and off He went with Jesus.
May the same be said of us.
“And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.” Matthew 9:9 KJV
Oh, Father, forgive us all for any and all times we have ever done anything other than humbly, lovingly, adoringly, and reverently yield ourselves to you and follow you forth. Teach us to do just this, oh Lord. Amen!
