“And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God:…” Luke 18:43
“So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.” Mt. 20:34
“And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.” Mark 1:31
“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” Lk. 13:12-13
“And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.” Mark 5:18-20
“The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” John 4:28-29
“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” Luke 17:15-17
There are four things I see over and over in the Bible in how people respond to encountering Jesus and being blessed, healed, set free, made whole, etc. by Him.
- They praise and worship the Lord
- They want to be with Jesus and follow Him
- They serve the Lord and others
- They go out to tell others about the Lord
When Jesus healed the 10 lepers, only 1 came back to give Him glory. He asked where the other 9 went. The one who praised Him wasn’t just healed; He was made whole. The Lord wants us to praise Him, worship Him, be with Him, follow Him, serve Him and others, and go out and tell others about Him. How many of us instead take our blessings from God and scurry off like kids on Christmas day to go enjoy our gifts and lives and leave God in the dust? Oh, what we miss when we neglect to devote our lives to Christ! Don’t miss the greatest blessing of all. To be in fellowship with Jesus forever. Praise God. Worship Him. Be with Jesus. Follow Him. Serve God. Serve others. Proclaim Christ to the world!
