Why Doesn’t God Love Me?

0

Why doesn’t God love me? Have you ever wondered this? Ever questioned God’s love for you? Ever wondered why you can’t feel His love for you? Why you don’t feel like you can see His love for you? Why it seems to you God love others but not you? For a long time I struggled with feelings and questions like these, but then the Lord set me straight with the truth about His love for His children. For His followers. For those who turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and in His death and resurrection, turn to God and His ways, and receive His forgiveness and the promise of forever life with Him. The truth about the love of God almighty for those who believe in and live for Him according to His ways. The truth about God’s love for those He adopts into His everlasting family. Herein, friend, is the truth.

We should not look to our feelings, to our life’s circumstances, to our thoughts, and to others’ lives to determine if God loves us and how much He loves us. Everything in this world is subject to change and to ups and downs and to coming and going. But God’s love never fails (1 Cor. 13:8), His love for His people is astonishingly wonderfully amazingly awesomely indescribably marvelous, and His love for those who through our lives being devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ will spend forever with Him is unfathomably genuine, precious, rich, passionate, magnificent, splendorous, glorious, perfect – and forever.

How do I know? Because of what God tells us and shows us in the Bible. In fact, before I share some encouraging verses with you below, I want to challenge you to make the commitment I did to study the Bible every single day of your life no matter what and to spend time alone in His presence daily loving, praising, honoring, praying to, seeking, worshiping, singing to, hearing, etc. Him. And I want to challenge you to open your heart and eyes as you read His Word to see just how wondrous His holy almighty forever unfathomably phenomenal love is.

Friend, when we look to His Word, and we meditate on His love, if He demonstrated to us no other love than in sending His only begotten Son Jesus to die for us and to be raised from the dead to offer to us the one and only way to eternal life rather than forever in hell and the lake of fire, this in and of itself would be sufficient to show us there is no greater and more incredible love in the universe than His for His Creation.

I encourage you as you read the Bible day by day to consider that God’s love is manifested in countless ways, so please let the Holy Spirit who lives inside Jesus’ followers bring to light God’s love in these ways. For example, hope, peace, joy, rejoicing, the calling to pray to God and that He hears us, mercy, forgiveness, the beauty of nature, truth, wisdom, promises, physical provision, kindness, fellowship with other believers, strength, food, clothing, shelter, communing with God, hearing from God, the experience of praising and worshiping God, etc., are all ways in which we see the love of God in His Word and experience His love in our lives!

Please be encouraged reading the following verses, and I so hope you will accept my challenge as you go forth!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV

“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1 John 3:1 KJV

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 KJV

“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” 1 John 4:16 KJV

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9 KJV

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” Ephesians 1:3-7 KJV
