167 Hours

“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 23:24

There are 168 hours in a week, and nowhere in the Bible have I ever found the Lord commanding, nor expressing a desire, that His people spend 167 hours a week living their lives like the rest of the world and then spending 1 hour a week in a church following a weekly church program depicted in the church bulletin “worshiping” God before heading out the door and returning to life as usual.

Following Jesus Christ as Lord is a way of life, a lifestyle, and loving, revering, honoring, adoring, praising, worshiping, serving, obeying, seeking, praying, spending time with, enjoying, experiencing, listening to, hearing, communing with, rejoicing in, finding hope in, celebrating, singing to, bowing down before, resting in, growing in the image of, being conformed to, being renewed by, being transformed by, drawing close to, and ever closer to, etc., the Lord should be fundamental to our lifestyle and never be limited to a pew in a church building.

There is nobody, and nothing, more important, wonderful, beautiful, lovely, special, exciting, brilliant, excellent, joyful, magnificent, splendorous, wondrous, glorious, phenomenal, and breathtaking than the Lord God almighty, and He is worthy of our love, time, care, attention, focus, praise, worship, adoration, reverence, honor, commitment, dedication, and devotion throughout the day, throughout the week, throughout the year, throughout the years, throughout our lives, and for eternity.

May we never confine the Lord and worshiping Him to an hour or so a week and figure the other 167 hours a week belong to us. May all of our hearts and lives belong to Him, and may we learn to worship Him with love and adoration with our every breath.
