“Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul keeps them.
The entrance of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.
I opened my mouth and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.
Look upon me and be merciful to me,
As Your custom is toward those who love Your name.
Direct my steps by Your word,
And let no iniquity have dominion over me.
Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.
Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
Because men do not keep Your law.” Psalm 119: 129-136
Can you see in the verses above the exceeding love and passion the psalmist has for the Lord and His Word? Can you see His extreme desire to know the Lord’s commands – and to keep them? And for others to know and keep them also? Can you imagine if you and I would be the same? If we would desire more than anything to love and please and obey the Lord and for others to do this also? One of the greatest blessings in the universe is the Bible, and yet are the Lord and His Word and obedience to Him our very greatest priorities? Are we as thankful as we should be that God almighty has blessed us with His very voice, with His love in print, with revealing Himself to us in the pages of the Bible, with His wisdom, His instructions, His teaching us His ways, His history, our human history, with prophecy of the future, with comfort and encouragement, with His salvation plan, with blessing after blessing after blessing contained within the pages of His Word? Hunger for His Word, my friend! Thirst for His commandments! Desire to learn of Him! Yearn to obey Him! Read the Bible daily! Diligently! Devotedly! For your sake! And for Christ’s sake! And pray for and encourage others to do the same! BE THANKFUL that the Creator of the entire universe loves us so much He has given us His very Word to read, to learn from, to grow by, and, oh, so very much more! Thank you, precious Father, for your Word! Teach us to love your Word, to do your Word, to grow by it and to live by it! All for your glory Father, AMEN!
