A Look at Your Life

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:7-14

Why am I living my life the last way I ever expected to live it? Because it’s not my life. When I committed my life to the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross to pay my sin penalty and was raised from the dead, I was SAVED FROM God’s wrath and forgiven, promised an everlasting relationship with God instead of the death, hell, and lake of fire in fiery torment eternity I and all humans because we’re all sinners deserve. My life was REDEEMED BY, RANSOMED BY, MADE FREE BY, JUSTIFIED BY, DECLARED INNOCENT BY, PURCHASED BY, BOUGHT BY, CONSECRATED TO, and BELONGS TO – THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. I live fully and wholly for the Lord Jesus Christ because my life is now HIS.

I never planned nor dreamed about nor set out to become a single-on-purpose evangelist doing streets ministry and writing Gospel tracts, devotionals, and books moving from one city to another with a bunch of handicapped and senior rescued dogs in tow with a great deal of solitude when I would have given just about anything to be near my family, be happily married, adopt some kids, live by the beach in the affordable and beautiful and warm climate South with a bunch of land, write bestselling novels, have close loving friends galore, a nice solid steady income, and have an amazingly close and intimate beautiful godly relationship with my husband. But my life belongs to Jesus now, and I live and breathe to love and glorify God through Him, and instead of living to fulfill my personal dreams, I live to fulfill God’s will for my life because my life is wholly His. I am willing to forsake all for Jesus, and I have learned no matter how much I have had to and continue to have to give up to be Jesus’ faithful fully devoted follower, none of what I am called to sacrifice for Jesus can possibly compare with the amazing blessedness of being in His intimate and awesome glorious forever fellowship. I gave up my dreams for Jesus because the joy and bliss and blessedness of being loved by Him and loving Him and being in the Lord’s presence forever through faith in and obedience to Him as Lord is utterly matchless; nothing, and nobody, can possibly compare to belonging to Christ forever and ever!

If you take a close look at your life, not just your life overall, but at your everyday life, could you honestly say you’re living utterly for Christ? Do you believe in Him as Lord and follow Him faithfully? Are you fully devoted to Him? Are you willing to forsake all for Him? Are you willing to leave behind your personal dreams and live for Christ instead, to lovingly and humbly pursue Him and His will for your life instead of to chase after your own desires?

Are you living totally for Jesus? If you are not, will you? Will you begin this very day? Oh, friend, it is excruciatingly painful to the flesh sometimes to lay down what our flesh so very much desires, but when we hunger and thirst and long and yearn for the Spirit of God to fill us and lead us, to be pleasing and honoring to God above all and anyone, there is simply nothing and nobody on this earth that can possibly compare to the awesomeness of being Jesus’ follower forevermore! Nothing, absolutely nothing, and absolutely nobody, can compare to THE LORD and to His forever love & glory, Amen!
