One day I made a really big confession to God. And I am writing this because I wonder if someone or maybe even many people who read this may need to make the same really big confession to God. In your own words of course. Not in mine.
What follows is the confession I made to God. And then I will tell you what God powerfully showed me when I made it.
I am so sorry. I have been basically saying you are not enough. And that your provision is not enough. And that your will is not good enough. And that you have messed up in your plans for my life. And that certain places are not okay. And that I deserve such and such. And such and such is not okay. And that you could and should and that I would have done a better job with my life. And that I cannot be okay unless…which means I’m thinking and acting like you are insufficient. Oh God have mercy upon me. My pride is despicable! Oh Lord have mercy!
Now here is the thing. I do NOT go around telling God He is not enough, that He does not provide enough, that His will is not good enough, that He has messed up in His plans for my life, etc. But what the Holy Spirit of God who lives inside His followers showed me is this.
I have a tendency to THINK, to FEEL, to SPEAK, to PRAY, and to ACT like God is not measuring up to me, like He is not meeting my expectations, like God is not good enough to me or to this world, like His plans are not wise, and I believe I do not need to say more. My ATTITUDE, my FACIAL EXPRESSION, my FEELINGS, my WORDS, my PRAYERS, my DECISIONS, etc. at times reflect that my heart is filled with PRIDE which is an ABOMINATION to God almighty!
I was SHOCKED and HORRIFIED and ASHAMED when God showed me this, but I am THANKFUL that He did. Because when He shows us our sin, and chastens us, it is in His love for us. And we have the opportunity to humble ourselves before the Lord, to repent, to turn to Him and His ways and will for us, and get busy about loving, serving, and living for the Lord Jesus Christ with all our hearts!
Oh, Lord, forgive me! Oh, Lord, forgive us all! Oh, Lord, have mercy upon us! Oh, Lord, teach us your ways! Teach us to love, honor, fear, revere, serve, obey, praise, worship, and glorify you now and forever and ever, AMEN!
Please God get this message into the hands and hearts of those you desire to read it, and please bring any and all to repentance who need to repent, AMEN!
