An Act of Worship

0

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” Col. 3:23-24

Know what the Spirit of Christ said to me one day?

“Don’t do this as a chore or obligation. Do it in love,” He told me. That was not all. He then said, “As an act of worship, yes.”

Why would He tell me this? Why am I telling you? Sometimes God tells me to do something I don’t want to do. I just don’t feel like it. For whatever reason. Ever felt that way? Notice the focus on feelings. Of the flesh. Human flesh. Human emotions. Desires. Wants. Dislikes. About us, right? Do you see the message in what God told me?

Instead of obeying God with a begrudging attitude, an oh-my-gosh-I-don’t-want-to-do-this-ugh attitude, with a feeling of a big weight on our shoulders of oh-no-here-comes-another-obligation-to-the-Lord and with an attitude of oh-yuck-now-I-have-to-do-these-awful-chores-for-Christ, we can and should obey the Lord with an attitude of this.

THIS IS AN ACT OF WORSHIP. THIS IS AN ACT OF SERVICE TO CHRIST. I AM SERVING JESUS. JESUS WHO DIED FOR ME ON THE CROSS AND WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD. I AM THRILLED TO HAVE THE BLESSING, HONOR, AND PRIVILEGE OF SERVING GOD ALMIGHTY!

Changes everything when we change our perspective, doesn’t it? Let’s worship God almighty, friend, in all we do, with hearts overflowing with love and thanksgiving to and for Christ!
