“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
One day my ex-husband told me I’m an inspiration. How could someone as messed up and broken and hopeless as I had been now be considered an inspiration to anyone let alone to the man who no matter how broken he was and how poorly he had treated me still should never have borne the brunt of my pride, bitterness, rage, control, judgment, bad-mouthing, and condemnation that had wounded him and plenty of others most especially the Lord?
I know I am an inspiration to him and to many others today, and here is why. EVERY SINGLE OUNCE OF GLORY GOES TO GOD ALMIGHTY for saving me from my sins and eternal punishment apart from Him, for bringing me into a glorious forever relationship with Himself, and for by His Holy Spirit renewing my mind through the Bible and transforming my life.
The Holy Spirit of God living inside me has done and is continuing to do the work of change in me, and what my ex-husband witnessed is the life of the Lord Jesus Christ dwelling in me. Inhabiting me. Living in me. Abiding in me. Thriving in me. Growing in me. Taking up more and more of me as more and more God teaches me to rid myself of my fleshly self-centered ways.
The real and true inspiration is Jesus Christ who by His Spirit pours His love and light through me and in so doing inspires people to see the Lord at work and to be drawn to Him!
Inspiration. In-spir-ation. His Spirit – in me. For His glory forevermore! Friend, when you sincerely surrender your life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and submit yourself to the control of His Spirit who comes to live inside you, you, too, will be an inspiration to others. Inspiring people to look to and cry out to and give their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord! That people might turn to the Lord, and for those who have turned, to draw closer, and closer, to more closely follow, to more closely imitate, to more closely resemble, to become more and more like Christ, amen!
