Are You Faithful?

0

3 “Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house. For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:1-13………………

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to the Lord and faithfulness, I tend to hear people talk – and even sing – about how God is faithful. How He sticks to His promises. How He is so amazingly abundantly awesomely good to His children. How He is loyal. How He does not wander; how He does not stray. Hpw He doesn’t leave His children, ever. How He is so beautifully and magnificently with, so with, His followers. Right there with us. But if you’re anything like I am, perhaps you don’t hear so much about the word faithful when it comes to this.

Are we faithful to Him? Yes, faithful. In the scriptures above, Jesus is declared FAITHFUL. To God. And to God’s appointment. To God’s assignment for Him. He did what God the Father sent Him on this earth to do. Lived the perfect life and went to the cross to pay our sin penalty for us. Was raised from the dead. Lived on this earth for a little while longer. Went up to be with God the Father to sit on His right hand to intercede for His followers until He returns again and until His ultimate forever reign. He was faithful. And then in the scriptures above there is Moses. Who was faithful to God. To do what God told Him to do. Not perfectly, but He did it. He was faithful. As what? As God’s servant. To fulfill His assignment. To be used by God to deliver the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. Faithful.

They were faithful, friend. How easy, and delightful, and wonderful, it is to consider God’s faithfulness. And how inspiring it is to read of others’ faithfulness to God like Moses’ faithfulness and so very many others who have followed God throughout time.

But friend, what about ours? About yours and mine? Are we faithful to God? In our hearts? In our actions? Daily? Hour by hour? Even moment by moment? Are we faithful to Jesus as Lord? Do we yield ourselves to Him continually as Lord? Do we seek God’s forgiveness when we fall short in this? Are we faithful to that which He has appointed us? To what He has assigned us? Are we truly living for Christ, in our hearts, and in our words and actions, or are we living for ourselves?

Friend, are you faithful? In the big things, and in the little ones? Does your heart belong to Christ? Or are there more important things, and matters, and distractions in your heart? And life?

It isn’t at the end of the day so much about whether we think we are faithful, is it? It’s about ultimately whether God finds us, and will find us, faithful?

Maybe this is a wake-up call for you. Or a reminder. Or will be used by God to encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing. Or perhaps will be used by Him to bring conviction and to bring you to ask His forgiveness and to make some serious changes in your life – – and heart.

God is faithful. Always. That is His very nature, isn’t it? What about us? Will we be found faithful when we stand before the Lord one day? Are we faithful now?

Oh, let us be faithful! Faithful! To the Lord! Amen!
