Are You Listening?

4
Are you listening? A kindergarten teacher I assisted for a very short while before I was fired many years ago in some of my worst – and lost – years began the school year with this question. Are you listening? But I am not a kindergarten teacher, and the question I am asking you is not for children. It is for you.

You have time to listen to the radio. You watch and listen to television. You listen to a concert. You listen to your family. You listen to your friends on the telephone. You listen to your boss, even if you wish you didn’t have to. You listen to politicians on television. You listen to the sports scores. You listen to this, and you listen to that. You spend a lot of time listening, don’t you? But are you listening to the Lord? How is it that you find so much time in your busy schedule to listen to the people and the things of this world, but don’t take the time daily to study the Bible and to listen to and obey the voice of the Lord? If you think this is my question to you, it is not. Because I have a bigger question than this one.

When you stand before the Lord after your life on this earth is over, as every single one of us will do, and you are headed to heaven because you repented of your sins and professed faith in Christ and lived your life following Him, or you are headed to hell because you lived a life of sin and rejected Christ and the salvation He offered you by dying on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, how will you explain to the Lord why you allowed yourself to be too busy to listen to Him and to obey Him, to study His Word and to learn to walk according to His ways? Before you proceed any further in your life being too busy for God, you might want to think about the eternal consequences of the answer to this question, not to mention consider all that you are missing on this earth by making the people and things of this world a higher priority than listening to and obeying the voice of the Lord and enjoying an intimate relationship with Him.

Are you listening to the voice of the Lord? Make a commitment to study His Word daily, and to make the changes in your life He wants you to make. Make Him your priority. There is nothing, and nobody, more important than the Lord God almighty. If you’re not already doing so, it’s time to start listening – daily – to the one who deserves your love, heart, ear, care, time, and attention more than anything in the universe.

In addition to studying the Bible, you may want to visit https://www.biblegateway.com where you can listen to the Bible on your computer. This wonderful tool allows you to even pick the book of the Bible, chapter and verses you want to hear. Or, you can listen to the Bible all the way through.

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

  2. An interesting discussion will probably be worth comment. I do think that you simply write on this topic, it might not be described as a taboo subject but normally persons are too few to communicate on such topics. An additional. Cheers
