Be a Help Not a Hurt

“Be a help not a hurt,” the Holy Spirit spoke to me regarding someone. In retrospect, I believe He was showing me how I needed to address multiple people and situations. Concerning people doing something I believe was wrong.

My track record? A long history of pride, judging, condemning, bad-mouthing, criticizing, controlling, manipulating, not loving, sometimes even hating, distancing myself, being harsh meanness, rudeness, arrogance, finger-pointing, need I say more? Self, self, self. Sin, sin, sin. A dire need for repentance. And for yielding to the Lord and His transforming me. Which He has – and is – doing a miraculous job of.

None of my sin helped people! It hurt them! Countless opportunities I could have had in the past to humble myself and BE A HELP NOT A HURT.

Oh, how easy it is when we see people doing something wrong to live according to our flesh and hurt them rather than to walk in the Holy Spirit, to put on the new person God has created His children to be, to put on Christ as He teaches us in the Bible, and to BE A HELP NOT A HURT.

Friend, please don’t miss your opportunities as I did for so long. Please when you see others doing wrong, BE A HELP NOT A HURT. Seek God’s forgiveness for any wrongdoing in your thoughts, words, and actions. Seek others’ forgiveness for any wrongdoing. And SEEK AND FOLLOW THE LORD GOING FORTH!

How can we help those doing wrong? Endless possibilities. Love, forgive, be merciful, pray for them, bring loving correction, encourage them, model to them doing right in God’s eyes, bless them, give to them, support them, sacrifice for them, be kind, AND/OR anything God shows us to do when we PRAY AND SEEK HIM.

Please be encouraged reading the Bible verses below!

“”Judge not, and you shall not be judged.” Luke 6:37

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1 NKJV

“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” Romans 13:14 NKJV

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:14-25 NKJV

“and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,” Colossians 3:10 NKJV

“But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:20-24 NKJV
