The Mouth of Jesus

“I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.” Psalm 39:1 KJV

Jesus had every right and reason in the world to lash out at the wicked before Him, but He kept His mouth closed (Isaiah 53:7). Instead, He loved and forgave.

David, in Psalm 39, declared He would hold His tongue when the wicked were before Him.

What about you? When the wicked stand before you, do you hold your tongue? Do you love and forgive?

When the wicked walk away, how do you speak of them? The Bible calls us to bless them, which means to speak well of them with our tongues. After the wicked are gone, do you hold your tongue? Do you love and forgive?

A follower of Jesus doesn’t just believe in Jesus. A follower learns to follow His lead. To do this, we must lay down our own lives and through Him live as He did.
With love. And forgiveness. In the name of Jesus our Lord.
Please Father forgive us all for falling so short of this. Please have mercy upon us. Please help us to do as Jesus. To love, and to forgive. In His name. Amen.
