“Have you ever met someone so broken there was literally no hope for them?” I sometimes ask people before I share how that was me for decades and give them one of my Finding the Light Gospel tracts which includes my personal story and the Gospel message.
The answers vary. One day I received this response.
“Yes, that’s me,” a woman said right away when I asked her the question.
She had no trouble confessing the truth. She was broken. Unlike so many people who pridefully parade around keeping up appearances and pretend everything is alright when it is not, she knew she needed help and allowed her need to be seen.
The Lord opened wide the door, and I was privileged to share with her about the Lord Jesus Christ, to give her hope, to give her my tract, and to let her know she would be very welcome to reach out for love, help, encouragement, and support.
Friend, humble yourself. If you are walking around struggling with one thing or another, whether enormous or tiny or somewhere in between, humble yourself before the Lord and His children and ask for and receive the help you need.
A proud heart and haughtiness are sin against God almighty. Humble yourself, oh yes, AMEN!
Father, this world teaches us we need to look good and pretend everything in our lives is perfect or at the very least really good. This world condones pride and even encourages it. You despise pride and command us to humble ourselves. Help us to repent of any and all pride as often as it crops up in any form whatsoever and remind us as often as we need it to humble ourselves, oh Lord, AMEN!
“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished.” Proverbs 16:5
“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” 1 Peter 5:6
