Don’t Forget the Lord!

In the verses below, Moses whom God used to help deliver the Israelites out of bondage in Egypt WARNS THE PEOPLE. How so? He tells them when God blesses them beyond measure in the land He will give them NOT TO FORGET GOD.  Moses doesn’t tell them not to forget simply what God did for them. He tells them not to forget him period! Wow! Not only can we forget to thank God! We can also forget Him altogether! This is tragic, and this is wrong. And we need to be ultra careful NOT TO FORGET GOD – AND not to forget what He has done for us and to be thankful!

How could they possibly forget God? After all, God miraculously freed them from heinous bondage. After all, God is the one who promised the Israelites blessings beyond belief. Could they and would they forget? Better question. Never mind the Israelites. You can read in the Bible what happened to them after they came out of bondage. What about you and me? Would you agree sometimes God miraculously frees us, delivers us, heals us, rescues us, protects, etc. and blesses us in all sorts of ways and then not only do we forget to THANK HIM but sometimes we rush off to enjoy our blessings and forget Him altogether at least for little bits of time if not for long periods?

I believe this warning is as much for us as it was for them. Let us not ever, ever, ever forget the Lord, let us never forget His goodness, and let us never forget to say THANK YOU LORD!

“And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.” Deuteronomy 6:10-12 KJV
