I started thinking seriously about leaving somewhere and something and some people whereby there would have been a major change in my life and ministry. The Holy Spirit spoke strongly to my heart, “Don’t leave because of fear.”
God wanted me to stay where I was for the time being anyway. He didn’t want me to yield to the fear and run. He wanted me to yield and surrender to Him and stay where He wanted me. To do what He wanted me to do and so He could teach me something and to refine and purify me. He had a plan and purpose for me where I was and wanted me to stay until I had fulfilled His purpose for me there. But I was afraid and uncomfortable and was tempted to run. I stayed. Because Jesus Christ is LORD.
I have a long history of fear, worry, doubt, and anxiety. All sin needing to be gotten rid of. God is continually working on me to live by faith not by fear. I am learning to put my trust in the Lord day by day and to follow Jesus not follow fear.
Just because fear comes doesn’t mean we have to let it rule and reign in our hearts and lives. God is the one who is to rule and reign. Fear is not to be our god. The Lord is God.
When we find ourselves afraid, worrying, and anxious, we need to turn away from all of it, turn to the Lord, put our trust in Him, seek Him, hear Him, and lovingly and faithfully obey Him.
This means when our flesh wants to run away in fear, and God wants us to stay, we need to remain where we are unless or until God says it’s time to move on.
The right reason to leave somewhere, something, or someone is not because of fear or any other emotion but because it is the will of God.
If you’re tempted to run right now out of fear, don’t bow down to the fear and run. Seek the Lord, wait on Him, hear Him, and obey Him.
Whether He leads you to stay or go, obey. For He is God – forever and ever, He is Lord, AMEN!
Feeling afraid? PRAY – and love & follow the Lord!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
