Feeling Scared?

Feeling scared? I am even as I write this. Not just a little scared. Really, really scared. I am prone to fear, worry, anxiety, and unbelief, and if I am not careful and recognize it as sin and get rid of it promptly, I can spiral downhill quickly, very uncomfortably, and worst of all sinfully. Why am I scared? I am tempted to tell you, but I am compelled by God simply to deliver this message about what to do when we’re scared.

The most obvious and tempting thing to do when I’m scared is to try to fix all the issues I have, to get all my questions answered, to figure out the future, to get rid of what is making me scared, to basically go to battle with my circumstances and people whose actions might be part of why I am afraid. But though God may in fact lead us to address different issues through prayer and action, most important of all is that we address our fear spiritually.

How so? May we choose moment by moment TO PUT OUR TRUST IN HIM, TO PLACE OUR FAITH IN HIM, TO REPENT OF ANY WRONGDOING INCLUDING WORRYING AND SELF-PITY, TO SPEND TIME IN HIS PRESENCE, TO LOOK TO HIM, TO PRAY TO HIM, TO SEEK HIM, TO READ AND LIVE BY THE BIBLE, TO WAIT ON HIM, TO HEAR HIM, TO OBEY HIM, TO FIND PEACE, HOPE, JOY, AND MOST OF ALL LOVE IN HIM, AND THROUGH IT ALL TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP AND BE THANKFUL AND TO REST IN AND REJOICE IN HIM EVEN AS WE CHOOSE TO CLEAVE TO HIM AND TO HIS WILL AND HIS WAYS, oh hallelujah!

I smile as I finish writing this. My circumstances haven’t changed as I wrote this. But I am so thankful for the Lord using this message to remind me of what to do when I’m feeling scared. Hoping this message brings you hope and encouragement even as God has used my writing it to bring hope and encouragement to me!

With love for the Lord and for you and for all, Lara

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Psalms 56:3 KJV

“Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26:4 KJV

“Be careful [anxious in some translations]  for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 KJV

Oh please dear God take away my fear take away any and all fear any and all of us have on a daily basis other than the fear of you we are supposed to have and please God replace the fear with growth with love with the truth of your Word with your perfect will in our minds, in our mouths, and in our actions, yes, Lord, in every aspect of our lives, help us to live by faith and in so doing to bring glory, honor, praise, joy, pleasure, love, and worship to your holy blessed forever name, AMEN!
