I met a man checking out of my hotel and asked him something I can’t even remember to which he replied a loved one had just died. Then he shared about the death of another loved one. In less than five minutes time I spent with him before he left the hotel, I told him how sorry I was, chatted briefly, prayed for him, and gave him a Gospel tract. Why do I tell you this?
Because I spent less than 5 minutes of my life showing someone who was suffering the love of Jesus and kindness in a world in which people so often seem too busy, too distracted, too insensitive, too unloving, too self-consumed, too disinterested, too focused on people in their own social circle, too uncaring, too unkind, too focused on where they’re going, too prideful, too focused on their calendar books and agendas, too focused on self, too whatever to show love and kindness toward others.
Now lest you think I’m patting myself on the back, let me be clear. I used to be the most self-centered person probably on this earth. I am loving and kind, sensitive and giving, sacrificing and compassionate, etc. ONLY because I am yielded to the Lord Jesus Christ whereby His Spirit is living in and through me and I therefore bear the “fruit(s) of righteousness” by Him. ALL THE GLORY goes to God.
I am simply His follower, His daughter, His servant, His vessel of love in a world in dire need of Him, of love, of generosity, of goodness, of grace and mercy, of sharing, of humility and of faith, of joy, peace – and kindness.
Please take 5 minutes of your life and show someone the love and kindness of Jesus. But please don’t stop there. Spend the rest of your life with your heart, eyes, and ears wide open to any and all opportunities God gives you to spread the Gospel message and to show the love and kindness of Christ to people near and far.
Oh, Lord, I tell people regularly as you know, dear Father, that this world would be a different place if we obeyed your greatest commands and loved you with all our hearts and loved others as ourselves. How sad it is, dear Father, to see all the suffering caused by our sin. It doesn’t have to be this way, oh Lord. You didn’t create us to be this way. Oh, God, I know the whole world won’t turn to you as I so want to have happen. But God, I do pray you would draw more and more to yourself, save more and more, bring more and more into your forever fellowship, and teach and help and equip us all dear Lord to make it a priority to share your love with others and to show your kindness regularly and above all else to love, worship, obey, serve, and glorify you forever, oh Lord! AMEN!
Friend, we were created in God’s image. Please note in the following verses God’s amazing kindness! Let us grow in kindness by the power of His Holy Spirit who lives inside His children, hallelujah! Amen!
“O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalms 117:1-2 KJV
Please see in these verses where the “fruit(s)” of righteousness comes by, from, and through the Lord!
“That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:10-11 KJV
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Hebrews 12:11 KJV
