God’s Ears

“In my distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.” Psalm 18:6

The Spirit of God has been taking me over and again, and again, to Psalm 18. Nobody told me to go there, not that I recall. No preacher preached a message on Psalm 18 anytime recently, to the best of my recollection. I don’t remember being drawn to Psalm 18 anytime in the past. I am quite sure the loving merciful graceful tender and strong wings of God have simply lifted me up and set me down right in the midst of the beauty and message of the psalm. On this particular day, the Lord knowing some sadness I have borne, He led me specifically to the scripture from Psalm 18 above. And showed me this.

No matter our trials, struggles, challenges, circumstances, tribulations, hardships, hurts, no matter the details of our everyday lives, and no matter the condition of our hearts, no matter our emotions, no matter what we have faced or are facing or will face, though the Lord may allow us to go through it all, because He knows what’s best and may be refining and growing us through it, or allowing consequences in our lives of things we have done wrong, or is using circumstances, and even people, to test our faith in Him, no matter what His intentions in allowing what He allows, no matter His purpose, THE LORD HEARS OUR CRIES.

He hears us.

How healing, how soothing, how tender, how loving, how amazing it is that the Lord of the universe despite how busy He is dealing with every human and every situation on this earth not to mention everything He deals with in heaven, the Lord takes the time, and love, and care to hear us, to understand us, to empathize with us when our sorrow comes from wounds from others, etc.

In a world in which so many people are too busy to hear us, or too self-consumed to show us their care, or too buried in their own struggles to help us with ours, or don’t understand our hurts because they haven’t experienced similar ones, or are too broken themselves to help us, or judge us for struggling, or don’t have the compassion we feel we so need, we can rest assured that when we cry out to the Lord, HE HEARS US.

Jesus Christ HEARS US. He knows us inside and out. And He knows when our hearts have been wounded, when we carry sorrow and grief, when we feel like we can’t make it another step, when we feel raw and vulnerable, no matter what it is we’re going through, when we turn to the Lord, He hears us.

How soothing, how healing, how amazing to consider the Lord’s love, His tender merciful love, in how He hears us.

Cry out to Him if you need to cry out to Him. And rest assured He hears you. Then rest in His unfathomable never failing awesome forever love.
