God’s Steps Are in Order

“I am ordering your steps for you,” the Holy Spirit of God spoke one morning. “Don’t re-order them.”

Then He made clear this message was not for me alone. Is it for you as well?

I live my life filled with and led by His Spirit as we are called to do. In my case, given the nature of my ministry on the road for Jesus, I have no plan, agenda, calendar, set schedule, etc. for my ministry work. I continually study the Bible, seek the Lord, pray to Him and listen, praise and worship Him, hear Him and follow Him, and repent when I fall short. I have an amazing opportunity day in and day out to hear and follow the voice of God. But I also have a pretty big opportunity not to mention temptation because my life is so unstructured to go the way of my flesh. I have to be careful!

The Lord has a plan and purpose for our lives. He has a pathway He sets before us. He has His will and ways. As the Bible shows us, He orders our steps down that pathway He has for us. This is exactly what the Lord warned me about that day.

See, for those of us whose lives are as unscheduled as mine, and even for those with very ordered, planned-out lives, and for those in between, for us all in truth, we need to be careful not to live outside of the steps the Lord sets before us. We need to be very careful to seek, hear, and obey Him. And not to do what He gives us out of order of His steps for us.

The Lord has a reason for why He orders our steps the way He does. We are not only to go one step at time as the popular saying goes. We are to go step by step according to God’s steps for us in His order. We are not to exert control over our steps. We are to submit ourselves entirely to Christ and follow His pathway for us step by step all for His glory, Amen!

Let me give you an example. The Lord has called me to be on the road full-time for Him, to do streets ministry with and without my beloved handicapped ministry dogs, to write and publish Gospel tracts, devotionals, and books, to do Video Devotionals, and to do one on one personal ministry with women. Through much prayer as well as fasting along the way (I don’t fast all food but certain foods and/or certain activities like Internet, phone use, email use, Facebook etc.), I discern the will of the Lord as to when to write which message, when to start writing a new book, when to finish one, when to publish, etc. He orders my steps in my writing. According to His will not mine.

He knows when He wants which message, where He wants it to go, when He wants it published, whom He will reach with it, etc. I am not to decide based on my emotions, comfort, peace of mind, self-satisfaction, thoughts, opinion, etc., the specifics of the writing. He is. So I submit to His will which includes His steps and the order of them. Over and again, I watch how He uses a particular message to reach someone right when the person needs to hear it! Not to mention He leads me to go out onto the streets and to meet people right when they are in need of hearing about Him, receiving love, hope, help, encouragement, and prayer, Gospel tracts, etc.

Friend, seek and follow the Lord. Right down to the very steps He sets before you. In His order. Not yours. For His glory. AMEN!
