Good News Daily – April 6

Dear friend,

Please be encouraged as you read today’s THREE devotionals.

love & blessings,

Falling Into Fear

“Don’t doubt,” the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. “Doubt doesn’t please me. Faith does.”

I had been drifting into doubt yet again like I so often do if I’m not careful. Truth? More than drifting. Spiraling quickly downward when the Lord kept me from falling further.

His chastening was borne of His love. He was simply and emphatically reminding me that what pleases Him isn’t worry, anxiety, fear, doubt, and unbelief. What pleases Him is faith in Him, in His death on the cross and resurrection, in the Bible, in His love, grace, mercy, wisdom, will, and ways.

He could so easily give up on someone like me who struggles with fear and doubt daily, but He does just the opposite. He continues to conform me to Himself, to grow me in His image, to refine me, to transform me. In His love. For His glory.

Need some refining when it comes to doubt? To fear, worry, anxiety, and unbelief? Turn to the Lord, friend. Turn to His Word. When you find yourself falling into fear and doubt, turn, turn, turn to the Lord. Choose faith over fear. Faith in the Lord God almighty. Hallelujah, AMEN!

Oh Father, your mercy astounds me. I wish I would stop doubting, dear Lord. And be perfect in your ways. But you know me Father, and you know us all. How far short of you we fall daily. How desperately we need you. I humbly come before you now, dear Father, asking you to help us all to humble ourselves before you and to choose faith over fear. Have mercy on us for the times we fear. Grow us in faith, dear Lord. Help us to be pleasing to you now and forevermore, AMEN!

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
To God our Savior,
Who alone is wise,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever.
Amen.” Jude 24-25

Positioned on Purpose

“I have positioned you here on purpose,” the Holy Spirit told me. “It is not a mistake.”

I was thinking for the umpteenth time abut whether I would stay in the South Carolina motel where He had led me after He led me out of New York City for a season of rest, refreshing, and healing from some health issues.

Should I stay? Should I go? Would I be forced to go due to governmental regulations in response to the corona virus? What was I doing in the motel anyway? In that location? When I had imagined I would still be in New York City? When I had thought if I left the city, surely I would be elsewhere? Was there a purpose to this? Was this just a stopping off point? Just a random place to go for a while until I could figure out what the Lord wanted me to do next?

The Holy Spirit was letting me know He had a purpose for where He had positioned me. I needed to stay and wait and seek Him and fulfill His purpose right where He had brought me.

Friend, we may not always understand why the Lord positions us where He does. Whether it’s in a geographical location, in a relationship, in a job, in a circumstance, in a situation, in an opportunity, in an encounter, etc. Whatever or wherever or with whomever it may be, whether or not we understand His reasons and purpose, we need to stay in the position He has us until He brings His plans and purpose to pass.

This takes love, trust, faith, faithfulness, humility, seeking Him, and surrender to His will, ways, position, and purpose.

Let’s be faithful to Jesus, dear friend, for He is forever Lord!

Oh Father, you know me so well. I always want to know and understand. And I get so restless to hurry ahead. I want to accomplish and rush forward so often. It’s so hard for me to simply be still and to wait on you. Lord, help me to stay in place, to stay in position, to stay in the position of wherever you want me to be, with whomever you want me to be, doing whatever you want me to do, most importantly to remain in the position of being in intimate fellowship with you, all for your glory, dear Father. And may this prayer include all those reading this. Help us all to be in position. To wait on you, Lord, in the position you would have us. With our hearts filled with love and humility and a desire to please you now and forever, AMEN!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

When the Cross Means Nothing

I knew a man years ago who wore a cross around his neck. I asked him about the cross. He didn’t believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. He didn’t follow the Lord Jesus Christ. He showed no interest in nor care for the Lord Jesus Christ. But he wore the cross. Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection held no significance in his heart.

Friend, we can wear crosses around our necks, call ourselves Christians, celebrate Christmas, go to church every Sunday, go to Sunday school, attend Bible studies, read the Bible, volunteer at church, etc., but none of this will give us God’s forgiveness, a forever relationship with Him, and escape from forever in hell and the lake of fire apart from Him. The crosses around our necks, and all else that we do and say, are meaningless if we don’t turn from our sins, believe in Christ as Lord and His death and resurrection, and surrender our hearts and lives to Him.

The only way to a relationship with the Lord now and forever is through faith in and a life committed to Jesus Christ as Lord.

The world is in dire straits right now, and we’re running out of time to surrender ourselves utterly to Jesus. May today be the day that we yield ourselves totally and forever to the Lord and His ways. No holding back. No reservations. No clinging to this world. Let us humble ourselves before Him, cry out for His mercy, and make ourselves entirely His now and forevermore. AMEN!

Lord, save people everywhere, save, save, save! Lead people worldwide to repentance. And let not a single person calling himself or herself a Christian be lukewarm or even dead. Bring revival! Bring awakening! Make hearts worldwide on fire for you! Wake up this world, dear Lord! Shake up your people, dear Father! Turn this world to you, dear God! Do what it takes! Save, oh save, save, save. And if a single person reading this is not fully devoted to you, is holding back in any way, shape, or form, bring conviction even now, dear Father, and make them sold out followers of you now and forever and ever, AMEN!

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

“Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:20-23
