TODAY’S UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST

Right now 3 out of 4 of my handicapped streets ministry doggies are having medical issues. All 4 are seniors now, and all 4 are handicapped in one form or another, so I’m not entirely surprised. Nevertheless being in NYC where vet care is super expensive, having to walk to the vet or use taxi cabs, and the weather being freezing cold, all coupled with all my ongoing ministry work, well, you probably get the point.

My heart and hands are extra full right now! That said prayers & donations would be extra appreciated!

Praise the Lord for His love and provision and the strength He gives me, and thank the Lord all 4 dogs are actually enjoying their lives right now despite their medical challenges! As for me, I’m a bit worn out but filled with thanksgiving to Jesus!

TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION

THAT’S MANIPULATION!”For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”

If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:6-11

Loud and clear. That’s how the Lord by His Spirit spoke to my heart as I moved through the little kitchen doing my morning handicapped streets ministry doggies-related chores. I had been thinking about doing something. The Lord had something to say about this.

Manipulation.

Know what He did? He stopped me before I even got started down the wrong pathway. Then He made clear I was to share this message with you who are reading this.

Please check your motives. Is there anything you have done, are doing, or plan to do that is manipulation in the eyes of the Lord? Trying to control someone in some way? Or some situation?

Turn to the Lord, friend, seek His forgiveness, and walk down the right pathway. The pathway of righteousness. His!

DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT

DON’T TRY TO FIX IT!

“Comforting someone is one thing,” the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. “Trying to fix it is another.”

I had just been crying on the street as a homeless man I know shared with me his beautiful dog he had dearly loved and probably the only one he had loved and felt loved by given his broken past and his resistance of the love and salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As I walked back with handicapped streets ministry senior rescued doggies Abigail and Gracie to where I am staying in New York City before I head to my next ministry location, I thought of what I could do to help the brokenhearted man. What would fix his hurting heart? I could do this or that.

That’s when the Lord broke in. Reminding me sometimes the best thing we can do is love and comfort someone but not try to fix things for them so they cry out to and place their trust in Jesus. When the Lord makes clear as He did with me that day that it’s best to love and comfort and pray for that person rather than jump in to fix things, we need to obey Him. It may be hard, but Jesus Christ is Lord and ALWAYS knows what’s best.

Someone you’re trying to fix? Someone’s life you’re trying to fix? Seek the Lord and see how He leads you. Obey Him!

TODAY’S WISDOM FROM ABOVE

STOP LOOKING TO YOURSELF

“Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,” 2 Cor. 1:9″“Cursed is the man who trusts in man
And makes flesh his strength,
Whose heart departs from the Lord.
For he shall be like a shrub in the desert,
And shall not see when good comes,
But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,
In a salt land which is not inhabited.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8

The Lord put on my heart one morning to tell you who are reading this to stop looking to yourselves for strength and provision, but instead to look to Him. We were not created to live for self nor to trust in self, but to live for the Lord and to trust in Him. Who is our god? Is it ourselves? It must not be! It is to be the Lord! And so shall we live – believing in Him, following Him, filled with His Spirit, feasting on His Word, led by His Spirit, living for the glory of Christ, AMEN!
TODAY’S 365 BLESSINGS

365 BLESSINGS is a devotional book I wrote that is available in print by contacting me at 843-338-2219 or via lara@GoodNews.love.

Blessings 232-233

“Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20-21

Some of the Bible is hard to understand. Some very. Some seemingly impossible. For me anyway. But over time, with more and more studying, with growing closer to the Lord, with growing in His image, with learning how to really hear the Spirit of God speaking to my heart, with the help of other Christ followers as needed and as supplied by the Lord, I grow deeper in understanding.

We can’t understand the Lord and His ways with our natural flesh. We understand by His Spirit who lives in those of us who follow Him. So His Spirit brings to light and life and understanding scriptures like these. With the blessings contained within.

The Old Testament law, impossible to follow perfectly, helps us to see our need for Christ and His forgiveness, salvation, and righteousness. For we can never measure up on our own. The law shows us where we fall short. But grace, oh what a blessing from the Lord, is greater in its wonderfulness than sin is terrible in its awfulness. God’s grace is greater than our sin! And, not only that, but look further in these verses.

Where sin once reigned in our lives, now God’s love, mercy, and grace and His righteousness, and His teaching us and empowering us to live in a way pleasing to Him, this now reigns in our lives! We are given new life in Christ! Life in which the Lord reigns in our hearts and lives! Life in which grace reigns! And, by His grace, we learn to live righteously as we enjoy a forever relationship with Him given to us through Christ forever Lord, AMEN! Oh, the reign of grace! Of God’s grace, YES!

TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL

25 REASONS TO BE THANKFUL

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess. 5:18

I lay back in bed early in the morning and felt compelled to come up with 25 reasons I am thankful to the Lord. I sat up so I could type them on my computer and to write this message.

The Lord God almighty. Jesus Christ the Son. The Holy Spirit. The Bible. Life, breath, and health. Forgiveness and everlasting life with Jesus. My ministry work for Him. Loved ones. My beloved handicapped streets ministry doggies. And on and on the list goes. I was smiling before I even finished my list.

I encourage you to be thankful. We who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord should practice thankfulness to the Lord as a very way of life.

Are you?

TODAY’S SERVING JESUS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE

“‘And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.” Deuteronomy 11:13-14

The best way to serve the Lord Jesus Christ I have found is to seek the Lord Jesus Christ to hear from Him how He desires to be served – and then to hear Him and to obey Him. I am concerned many people choose how to serve the Lord based on what they feel like doing, what they enjoy, what others are doing, what others ask of them, what’s popular, what’s easy and familiar and comfortable, and what seems obvious and fits into their schedules when in fact the very best way we can serve the Lord is to serve Him however He desires no matter the cost to our flesh!
