“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” James 3:13-17
“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.” Proverbs 3:7
I have a loved one who is truly one of the wisest people I have ever met concerning the matters of this world. But he does not yet believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and his wisdom is earthly. I have known Christians as well myself included who at times come up with seemingly wonderful wisdom concerning worldly issues. Oh, how people might call us wise! Oh, in our pride how wise we might even think we are!
Friend, there is no wisdom that even comes close to the wisdom of the Lord, His Word is filled with it from start to finish, and we who are His disciples can pray to Him and listen for the voice of His Holy Spirit giving us wisdom from above which will always line up with the Bible.
Let us be faithful in continually seeking the Lord including for wisdom, and let us live by His wisdom!
