Dear friend,

Is your heart pure for Jesus? Are your thoughts and feelings pleasing to Him? My beloved long-time pastor who went to be with the Lord once told me the Lord had taken Him from a place of dealing with his external actions that were sinful to dealing with his internal thoughts which were sinful. The Lord has done the same with me! See, the Lord wants us to be pure in our actions, our words, and our thoughts!

We fall short daily as humans, but we have a responsibility to continually purify ourselves by purifying what displeases and dishonors the Lord and moving forward in doing, saying, and thinking what brings Him praise, honor, and glory.

I encourage you each and every day to repent as needed and purify yourself for Jesus!

“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:20-21

love & blessings,

I’m so excited about all the possibilities in this 24 hours to love and serve Jesus, and I’m so excited about the future. The future of spending forever with my beloved Jesus, and the future on this earth of being given the privilege of loving and worshiping Him and telling the world about Him through my ministry work.

I was a woman so broken for so long I couldn’t imagine making it through another minute of a single day let alone being excited about anything whatsoever. The transformation by Christ is indescribable. He didn’t stop transforming me, however. He is ever working on me as He grows me in His image and conforms me to Himself. Thank the Lord for His awesome patience and mercy with me!

I could ever use prayer as far as my ministry work is concerned handicapped streets ministry doggies included, AND I’m ever so thankful, too, for when people pray for the Lord’s refining of me as He leads me forth!

Thank you for however you are led to pray!

love & blessings, lara

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,…” Hebrews 12:2

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2

“Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.” Deuteronomy 13:4 KJV

Sometimes the Lord gives me messages for me. Sometimes He gives me messages for others. Sometimes He gives me message for us all. This one I believe is for us all. How can you tell when the Lord is speaking? He ONLY and ALWAYS speaks in line with the Bible. If someone says they have a message from God for you, make absolutely certain it lines up with the Bible. And pray to the Lord to see if the message is specifically for you. If it it does not line up with the Bible, it is not from God. This is what the Lord spoke to my heart:

Be vigilant today in hearing me. Be steadfast in obeying me. Be faithful in following me. Be diligent in humbling yourself before me. Do you see the message in this? Fasten your eyes upon me. Fasten your heart upon me. Cleave to me. Cling to me. Behold me. Look unto me. Do not let go of me. Too many people are cleaving to this world. To themselves. They need to cleave to me. My sheep cleave to me. Your focus needs to be me. This is all.”

Let’s see if the Lord would speak such a message. The Bible is ultra clear about HEARING GOD, BEING STEADFAST, OBEYING GOD, FOLLOWING GOD, HUMBLING OURSELVES, LOOKING TO GOD, CLEAVING TO GOD, BEHOLDING GOD, NOT HOLDING ONTO THE WORLD, and FOCUSING ON GOD. Yes, God would speak such a message to us!

Is this a message you need to hear right now?

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5

Whom do you long to please more than anyone else in the world? If it’s not the Lord, it’s time to make a change. If it’s your husband, wife, children, parents, grandchildren, boss, pastor, best friend, co-worker, fiance, boyfriend, girlfriend, your dog, absolutely anyone other than Jesus, now is the time to make the change.

For years, I told people I believed in Jesus Christ as Lord. But my life made clear He was not my first love. I lived for me not Him. And I desired to please myself and others more than I desired to please Jesus. Then the Lord led me to repentance, drew me to Himself, led me into His Word, began to teach me by His Spirit the Bible, began to purify me, to prune me, to refine me, to transform me, to teach me His ways, and caused me by His lovingkindness and mercy to fall head over heels in love with Him. More in love with Him, friend, by the very day!

Now I long to please Jesus more than anyone else in the world. He is my first love and my greatest priority. I long to bring Him praise, honor, joy, pleasure, worship, and glory! For I delight in Him more than anyone in the universe.

Long to please Jesus, friend. Long to please Him more than anyone else. May He be your first love forevermore!

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 (thief refers to the devil!)

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 (refers to Jesus and His sheep!)

The devil has a voice, you know, and his voice can be soft, sweet, delightful, and speak the exact words we want to hear and deliver mightily tantalizing messages filled with temptation and deception. Think he doesn’t have a voice? He spoke in the Garden of Eden! He spoke to Jesus Himself in the wilderness! He spoke to the Lord about Job! He spoke through the apostle Peter before Jesus rebuked him! He spoke to Ananias and his wife through their thoughts before they died because of their lies and greed! And, though we may not hear him audibly, he most assuredly is capable of speaking to us! Oh, how careful we must be not to be deceived and to follow him instead of Jesus!

The devil’s mission is to steal, kill, and destroy, and he is a murderer and the “father of lies” (John 8:44), a deceiver (Rev. 12:9), dresses up as an “angel of light”, “prowls around like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8),” and on and on. How careful we must be not to fall for his despicable tricks and to bow down before him and to submit to him and to reap the awful consequences of following him instead of the Lord.

We were created to follow Jesus not Satan. It is the voice of Jesus we are to hear and follow.

How do we hear the voice of the Lord? By reading the Bible and understanding that when the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts personally or through others, He only and always speaks in line with the Bible!

Follow Jesus, friend. Not the devil! Dig deep, daily, and devotedly into the Bible and spend time alone with the Lord each and every day praying, listening, obeying Him, praising, and worshiping Him. Live day in and day out to love, serve, and glorify the Lord and to proclaim Him to the world!

Blessings 240-242

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

Another three blessings! How easy it is to rush through God’s Word and miss so very much! I have time and again. But then the Lord brings me back and takes me deeper, showing me more and more, teaching me more and more, growing me more and more. Take, for instance, this one simple verse. Three blessings? One, we aren’t condemned when we place our faith in Christ as Lord. Amazing! Second, we are “in Christ Jesus” when we turn to Him as Lord. We learn how to “abide” in Him. We learn how to “walk” in Him. We learn how to love in Him, to live in Him, to live through Him, to rejoice in Him, to commune with Him, to fellowship with Him, to rest in Him, to take refuge in Him, to find shelter in Him, all revealed to us in the Word of God, all what we can experience when we live our lives in pursuit of the Lord and the Bible.

Third blessing? We learn to live according to the Spirit of Christ who lives inside His followers! Not according to our ways, the devil’s ways, the world’s ways, not according to any other ways but God’s! We learn to live like this, yes! We are truly given a new life – in Christ! Free from condemnation. Filled with Christ’s love. According to His almighty ways, yes! AMEN!

“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.” Psalm 42:1

“What do you want?” I said to paralyzed doggy Mr. Simeon. I know him well. Spoiled, needy, ever keeping me on my toes. I knew he wanted something. But what?

Immediately he raised his front leg up in the air toward me. I knew right away. He didn’t want food. He didn’t want water. He didn’t want a walk. He wanted me!

He fully trusts me to provide everything he needs, and if you’ve never had a paralyzed dog with special medical needs on top of the paralysis, rest assured the needs are relentless. He depends on me completely, but Mr. Simeon wasn’t reaching up his paw toward me to get me to give him more of what he needed.

He was reaching out to me for love and attention and time with me.

Long ago, a loved one told me essentially we need to be careful not to want the gifts from God more than the giver of the gifts, God Himself.

How often, I wonder, do you and I reach upward to the Lord as Mr. Simeon reached upward to me to simply spend time in His presence, to experience His love, to commune and fellowship with Him, to enjoy His blessed company, to praise, worship, and adore Him, to sing to Him and to pray and seek His face and listen for His voice?

As I was writing this, Mr. Simeon threw a temper tantrum as he went into a virtual panic to get me to be with him. He wanted nothing other than my love, company, and presence.

If we see the Lord as nothing more than our provider, we are missing the very most important aspect of God almighty. The greatest of all? His loving forever almighty all-powerful, glorious presence!

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”” Mark 10:45

Years ago, I desperately wanted to stop going to a church service for people who were homeless because I didn’t like aspects of the service. Why should I have to deal with something I didn’t like? I could easily go elsewhere.

The Lord brought strong conviction – through the verse above. He showed me I was consumed with myself and what I wanted and what made me happy and comfortable and with being served to please me rather than humbling myself, denying self, and going to serve.

I followed the Lord’s leading and ended up having a phenomenal time loving and serving the Lord and others, and my season there turned out to be some of the preparation the Lord gave me before soon afterward He sent me out on the road full-time – TO LOVE AND SERVE HIM AND OTHERS!

Who is serving whom, friend? Is your life about self and seeking to be served, or is your life about Jesus and seeking to love and serve Him and others?

I needed a massive overhaul by the Lord. Do you?
