Good News Daily – July 20

Dear friend,

I already sent out a special edition today called “The Man of My Dreams,” but at the leading of the Lord, please find my usual Good News Daily. With FOUR MESSAGES below. Lots of reading, perhaps you think. Truth is I do my best to discern the Lord’s will each day including which messages He wants me to write and which He desires I publish whether online and/or in print. My life is wholly His – writing very much included! There is indeed lots of reading below, and I trust the Lord has a purpose in this. And I hope with all my heart you are greatly encouraged, helped, challenged, changed, and blessed through today’s messages. To the Lord be every single ounce of glory – as always!

The Best Banana Ever

I was perched on my hotel room bed early one morning before I got started taking care of my handicapped streets ministry dogs eating a banana when I thought, “this is the best banana I have ever had!” Oh, that banana was so marvelously delicious! Not unripe in the least, not overly ripe in the least. Absolutely perfect tasting. Sweet. No big bruises like some of them get. Just so incredibly tasty. An absolutely yummy way to start the day! That is when it dawned on me most assuredly not for the first time and most certainly not for the last. How much I take for granted to this very day right down to what to me that day tasted like the very best banana I had ever had!

The Lord has transformed me from an extremely self-centered, selfish, spoiled, whining, complaining, drama-queen of a lost and broken woman into a totally devoted and sold out follower of His who most of the time now is thankful and positive and joyful with my little stumbles and falls along the way and the necessary repentance to go along with it. But even with a vastly changed attitude and lifestyle, I still take for granted far too much. I truly believe forever will not be enough for all of us to say thank you to the Lord for His unfathomable love and goodness and utterly countless blessings each and every day of our lives! Even down to the seemingly smallest of things like a fantastically sweet banana!

Truth is that really wasn’t the best banana I had ever had nor likely the best I will ever have in the future. But it sure tasted like it that day. That day I took the time to be thankful for a blessing I would have ordinarily overlooked.

Will you join me, friend, in making a conscious effort to be more aware of God’s love, His goodness and greatness, His blessings and beauty, His glory and wonderfulness? Will you join me in practicing thanksgiving each and every day? And in striving not to take anything for granted when it comes to the Lord’s blessedness? Please join me in this!

Lord, thank you for every single blessing you have ever given me! Most especially for you and for forever with you and your Holy Spirit and the Bible! And oh, Father, for every single spiritual and physical blessing. I could go on and on and on! Please Lord forgive me and us all for anything we have ever taken for granted. Sad, Lord, it took a false religion I explored for a while and a retreat within it to help me to see how thankful I should be for every ounce of food I eat and for those who farm it and prepare it, and, oh, Lord, how much we neglect to thank you for so very much! Lord, I pray you would help us all to lead a lifestyle of praise and thanksgiving to you, dear Father! I love you with every ounce of me, Lord! Help us all to do the same! To love you, love you, love you and to thank you each and every day, AMEN!

“giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;” Colossians 4:2

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thess. 5:18

Message #2
Why I Love the Lord So Much!

A friend in sharing her heart with me remarked on how much I love the Lord and essentially expressed how she desires to so passionately and fervently love Him also. How did I get to such a place of ever-growing indescribable love and zeal for and devotion to the Lord?

Years ago, a woman I met assumed my extreme love for the Lord was based on all He has done for me. As much as I am thankful beyond measure to the Lord for all He has done for me, this is not why. Here, friend, is the reason.

I love the Lord beyond description because of WHO HE IS!

Do you love the people you love most in this world because of what they do for you and give you or because of who they are?

In a healthy relationship, it is because of WHO THEY ARE! And the more time you spend with them, the more you fellowship with them and enjoy their company, the more you experience their presence in your life, the more you speak to them and listen to them and get to know them, the more you learn of them, the more you learn of them from them, the more you watch them, the more you seek spending time with them, the more you grow in relationship to them and with them and deepen your love for them, right?

The more time I spend reading the Bible and learning from the Lord and of Him, and the more time I spend alone in His presence praising Him, worshiping Him, delighting in Him, singing to Him, seeking Him, praying to Him, listening to Him, being changed by Him, enjoying Him, experiencing Him, being refined by Him, being grown by Him, getting to know Him, hearing Him, the hungrier and thirstier I am for more of Him and more knowing Him and more growing closer to Him and Him to me, and the more I love Him.

My zeal, passion, and fervent love for the Lord and the way this love grows and grows are borne of Jesus Himself and being in His presence and being totally devoted to Him and to reading the Bible and living by it!

We are commanded to love the Lord with all our hearts. But lest you think this “command” to love Him is boring and drudgery and nothing more than an obligation we must fulfill and get out of the way so we can go on with our lives and set the Lord on the back burner once we cross Him off our to-do lists each day, think again!

The Lord, receiving His love, and loving Him, entering into a deeply intimate, deeply personal, ever-growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through repentance, faith in, and true devotion to the Lord, there is simply nothing more wonderful in the universe!

Love, love, love the Lord with all, all, all of your heart, AMEN!

Dear Father, cause every single one of my dear readers to fall madly and passionately and head over heels in love with you, oh Lord! Help them to make you and time alone with you each and every day their number one priority. Help them to love you with all their hearts. Help them to come through time in your presence and in the Bible to know you personally. Give them a hunger and thirst for you so strong and for our Word so powerful that they feel they can’t get enough of you and loving and pleasing and honoring and adoring and serving and worshiping and praising you and glorifying you now and forever and ever, AMEN!

Message #3
Don’t Quit in the Battle!

The devil will fight tooth and nail against us to stop us from loving and serving the Lord and from fulfilling the assignments in serving Him to which the Lord calls us as the Bible clearly shows us and as I can strongly attest to from personal experience in life and ministry. The Lord gave me a powerful message to share with you for those right now the devil is coming hard against to try to stop from fulfilling what the Lord has given you to do for Him. If this isn’t your experience right now, perhaps you will be able to put this message to use further down the road following Jesus.

These are the words the Holy Spirit who dwells inside God’s followers spoke to my heart:

I thought about the message after I wrote it down. Seems so obvious, but I had never truly considered it before despite years of fiery battles in which the devil has repeatedly with all his might tried to destroy my life and ministry.

We can be one breath away from winning a battle and be utterly defeated because we walked off the battlefield rather than endured until we achieved victory!

If soldiers walk off the battlefield before the battle ends, how can they win? They can’t!

Nor can we!

Cry out to the Lord in your battles, friend, for the wisdom, strength, directions, and all you need to win the battles of this life. And don’t forget to give the Lord the praise and glory when you find yourself walking in victory!

Your victories will not come in yourself. They will come in Christ. So look to Him and to the Bible in every battle. And in the strength of Christ for the glory of Christ, WIN!

“For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: “FOR YET A LITTLE WHILE, AND HE WHO IS COMING WILL COME AND WILL NOT TARRY. NOW THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH; BUT IF ANYONE DRAWS BACK, MY SOUL HAS NO PLEASURE IN HIM.” But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” Hebrews 10:36-39

Message #4
Deciding to Forgive

Should I forgive that person? Shouldn’t I? Should I forgive them? Shouldn’t I? Should I forgive that group of people that did something awful? Shouldn’t I? Should I forgive my family who let me down? Shouldn’t I? Should I forgive the person who harmed my loved one? Shouldn’t I? Ever had thoughts like these? Or something like them anyway? Wondering if or not you should forgive? There is only one right answer, friend. It is this.

Love and forgiveness are commanded by God. We must love. We must forgive. Because the Lord Jesus Christ says so. So what do we do if we don’t FEEL like forgiving? And what if we don’t feel READY to forgive? Again, there is only one right answer, friend. It is this. We forgive because God says so. We don’t delay forgiveness. We don’t put it off. As soon as there is someone, or some people, to forgive, we must forgive. Because of Jesus. Because Jesus Christ is Lord. Because we are to OBEY THE LORD in ALL THINGS – including when it comes to FORGIVING. And so it is we must DECIDE TO FORGIVE. And FORGIVE! Now!

Forgiveness is not to be based on what others do and don’t do. Forgiveness is not to be based on what we feel like or don’t feel like doing. Forgiveness is not to be based on our timetable. Forgiveness is an act of obedience to God almighty. Enough said.

Father God, if anyone who reads this message is struggling to forgive, is hemming and hawing, is afraid to forgive, is too hurt to forgive, is refusing to forgive, is waiting for someone to apologize to forgive, etc., please Lord give them the desire, the willingness, and the strength to forgive, oh God!

You say you won’t forgive those who don’t forgive. Help us to forgive, dear God, for your sake! And please Lord lead us to repentance wherever and whenever we need it and forgive us for our own wrongdoing! Lord, we need you in this. It can seem totally impossible to forgive sometimes. But you will give us the strength, I am sure of it. So help us, God! AMEN!

p.s. Dear Lord, your Word says we need to forgive FROM THE HEART! Help us to forgive not just outwardly but right down in the deep of our heart. This means, Father, in our thoughts and feelings. So please remove from us any hurt, bitterness, thoughts of vengeance, pride, anger, all of it, oh Lord! And please forgive us for all we’ve held in our hearts that is sin against you! Cleanse us thoroughly, dear Lord, so we are pleasing to you inside and out! AMEN!

“”Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37

“”For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” Matthew 6:14-15

“Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7

“Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” Luke 6:36

“Then his master, after he had called him, said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”” Matthew 18:32-35
