The Praying Praising Plant

A sister in the Lord sent me a photo one day of a skinny, simple plant which appeared for all intents and purposes to be lifting its two slender branches up toward the heavens in prayer, praise, and adoration of the Lord. Everything about the little plant seemed to be looking upward. As though nothing in the universe mattered more than loving and worshiping the Lord.

Friend, how often are you and I looking upward to the Lord? Seeking Him? Praying to Him? Praising Him? Worshiping Him? Listening to Him? Adoring Him? Meditating on Him? And on the Bible? Speaking to Him? Speaking to others of Him? Communing with Him? Fellowshipping with Him? Fellowshipping with others in His name for His glory rather than focusing solely on earthly matters? Singing to Him? Our hands raised upward? Our hearts lifted skyward? Our eyes looking up? Magnifying Him? Up, up, up to the Lord?

Is it possible, friend, that the little plant is more turned upward to God almighty in heaven than you and I are? Do we have some reorienting to do? Some turning upward to do? Surely we have much to do in our everyday lives here on this earth, but nothing absolutely nothing is more important than loving, praising, adoring, serving, worshiping, and glorifying the Lord and telling others about Him and pointing them upward to the Lord!

Thank you Lord for the praying praising plant inspiring us to turn, turn, turn to you! To look, look, look to you! To pray, pray, pray to you! To praise, praise, praise you! To worship, worship, worship you! To exalt, exalt, exalt you! To love you with all our hearts, oh Lord! To live, live, live for you! To humble ourselves before you! To dance before you! To sing to you! To do whatever you desire to glorify you, oh Lord, yes, AMEN!

“Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.” Psalm 33:8

“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!” Psalm 150:6

HOPE in a Darkening World

This world is so dark, and is getting darker it seems. It can be hard sometimes not to fall into hopelessness when we set our eyes on the news and the evil, violence, brutal hatred, murder, wickedness, acts of despicable rage and heartlessness, and on and on it goes

But there is a hope we can hold onto and rise above it all and be sheltered from the darkness and find joy and comfort in the midst of it all.

When we remove our eyes from the wickedness all around and set our gaze on the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible, we can enjoy and rest in the hope and joy of Christ.

When we turn from our own wickedness and are genuinely sorry for our sins and believe Jesus is Lord and died to pay our sin punishment and was raised from the dead, turning to God and His ways, we are granted His forgiveness and given forever life with Him! We become His!

The Lord will shelter us under “the shadow of His wings” when we live in faith in and obedience to Him no matter what awfulness abounds around us.

Rest in Him, friend. Put your trust fully in Him. Put your hope in Him. May He be your hope. May He be your love, peace, joy, praise, and rejoicing. May He be your comfort and guide, your Lord and Savior, your best friend, your redeemer and master, your inspiration and light.

Leave the world’s ways behind and live for the Lord. Hold on for dear life to the hope that is Christ and find joy in the Lord and Savior of the world and in His wonderful, marvelous, awesome, and powerful Word. AMEN!

Lord, help us all to turn our focus from the darkness of this world to you, the most glorious, precious, awesome, amazing, fantastic, fabulous, phenomenal light in the whole wide universe! Help us to follow after you and to find love, hope, peace, joy, comfort, passion, purpose, rejoicing, rest, wisdom, truth, mercy, grace, forgiveness, and wonderful, wonderful light IN YOU, dear Lord. AMEN!

“rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;” Romans 12:12

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always [be]ready to [give]a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 1 Peter 3:15

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”” John 8:12

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,” Romans 5:1

“Your righteousness [is]like the great mountains; Your judgments [are]a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast. How precious [is]Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You [is]the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.” Psalm 36:6-10

The Lord Sees Your Secrets

If you believe you are keeping secrets from your loved ones, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from co-workers, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from classmates, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from your homeless shelter roommates, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from the authorities, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from your pastor, Sunday school teacher, Bible study buddies, and church small group, you may be right. If you believe you are keeping secrets from your best friend, you may be right. It’s totally possible you’ve succeeded and that they truly don’t know about your secrets. They may be truly falling for the appearance you are keeping up on the outside all the while you are keeping some secrets deep inside your heart with the assumption nobody absolutely nobody knows.

Friend, if you are holding something in the dark for nobody to see because you know it’s wrong, you’re ashamed or embarrassed, you’re afraid of what people will say or do, you’re petrified of the trouble you’ll get into, you don’t want to deal with the consequences of being found out, etc., the truth of the matter is that THE LORD SEES YOUR SECRETS. Every single one of them. He sees every action, hears every word, and knows every one of your thoughts. He knows the good, the bad, and the so incredibly wicked and ugly. He knows your past, present, and your future. He is all knowing, and He is all powerful. He is holy, perfect, and righteous. There are no secrets when it comes to the Lord.

No more secrets. Bring the truth into the light, seek and receive the Lord’s forgiveness, turn your whole heart and life over to Him, and live the way He has called you to live. He will give you the strength to do just that. To live in His light. Believe in Jesus Christ as Lord. Believe He died on the cross to pay your sin penalty. Believe God raised Him from the dead. Surrender all to the Lord. Live for Him. From this day forth. Turn, turn, turn to the Lord, AMEN! No more secrets, friend! No more darkness! Live in the light of the Lord Jesus Christ!

“”For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor [anything]hidden that will not be known and come to light.” Luke 8:17

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us [our]sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” 1 John 1:5-10

The House on the Rock

Is your house founded on a rock or on sand? I’m not asking about your physical house, apartment, condo, tent, homeless shelter, houseboat, or RV, mind you. I’m asking about your very life!

See, the Lord Jesus Christ tells us in the Bible that our lives need to be founded on faith in Him as Lord which means we are to live in obedience to His sayings. To His Word. To the Bible. To His will. To His ways. To the Lord God almighty!

In fact, He says many will come to Him and call Him Lord but not enter into heaven because they never left behind their evil ways. Their sins. Their wickedness. Their disobedience. Their rebellion against the Lord God.

Friend, repenting from our sins and believing in Christ as Lord who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead involves a TURNING TO CHRIST AS LORD. LIVING FOR CHRIST AS LORD. LIVING IN OBEDIENCE TO CHRIST AS LORD. FOLLOWING CHRIST AS LORD.

Is your house founded on a rock? The rock of Christ? The rock of God’s Word? The rock of living for Jesus? According to God almighty’s ways?

Oh, may it be so! For the house founded on the rock of the Lord Jesus Christ is the house that will stand forever!

Oh Lord God, for so very long, I thought merely calling you Lord was sufficient. At long last, I began to study your Word and to hear your Word preached. I read and heard your sayings. But I wasn’t a doer. Lord, by your grace and patience alone, I became a hearer and a doer of your Word. With plenty of stumbles and falls and repentance along the way, mind you. Now that I know the beauty and wonder and joy of following you with zeal and passion, of living in obedience to you, dear God, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

But I am afraid my God that so many people who call themselves Christians simply have an intellectual belief in you, may or may not listen to preaching, may or may not study the Bible, but live the way they always lived. Never truly departing from their old worldly ways. Just as I did. Please do in them what you did in me and show them the right way to live is in humble and totally committed surrender to you, dear Father! Help us all to live for you, dear God, oh so help us God! AMEN!

“”Therefore by their fruits you will know them. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: “and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”” Matthew 7:20-27
