Three Blessings in Rejection

I have been rejected on and off my whole life for all sorts of reasons some good some bad, but suffice it to say I know to the utmost degree what rejection feels like, how badly it hurts, how much it haunts a soul even years later, how easy it is to get discouraged by it and depressed over it, and how debilitating it can be when it comes to moving forward in life! But I have found hope in the midst of it all! Hope beyond measure! By God’s grace alone, I have come to find three blessings in it, and I so very much hope this message will be an encouragement to you if you ever struggle with rejection.

1. Being rejected is an opportunity to begin, develop, and/or vastly deepen a forever relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, to pour our hearts out to Him, to receive His love, comfort, and healing, and to draw ever closer to Him!
2. Being rejected is an awesome opportunity to surrender ourselves totally to Jesus and the Bible and to give Him full access to our hearts and lives to refine and transform us to grow us in His image as we learn to die to self and live entirely for Him!
3. Being rejected is an incredible opportunity to become more loving, kind, forgiving, sensitive, giving, compassionate, merciful, generous, understanding, humble, gracious, caring, and patient etc. toward others even toward those rejecting us. We through our own hurt and pain can become desirous not to hurt others the way we have been hurt and instead to love them the way God commands us to love them!

I never imagined there could be blessings in rejection given how unbelievably much it can hurt, but clearly there are! To the Lord be the glory for the blessings!

Holy, holy Father, heal us of the wounds caused by rejection, help us to love and forgive in response, help us to die to self and live for you, refine and transform us, help us to seek your forgiveness and the forgiveness of those who reject us if we have done wrong, grow us in your image, draw us close and closer to you, oh Lord, and use us to love, bless, and help others through our experience with rejection. All for your glory and not for ours, AMEN!

** Please note in the 2nd verse below that the Lord gives us all we need to live in a godly way. So we can rest assured when we humbly yield our hearts and lives to Him when we face rejection, He will help us face it in a godly manner whereby we are loving and honoring toward Him as well as others!

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4

“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 1 Peter 1:3

God Warned Me

I dealt with a nasty lady one day in a place of business only to find afterward the Lord took no pity on me. He quickly reminded me He had made clear in my heart He had not wanted me to go into that place of business at that time. He had warned me! And I had reaped the consequences of my disobedience. I in my pride had convinced myself I knew better than the Lord. I had pretty much pretended I hadn’t heard Him and went ahead with my plan anyway. Rebellion is wicked and comes with all sorts of consequences some small and some gargantuan.

God’s will is always important even in what we may pridefully consider to be the smallest of matters and is always to be followed. We should be thankful for His love, mercy, power, sovereignty, plans for us, His perfect will, His warnings, and His protection. We should obey the Lord at all times because He is Lord. And we should repent when the Holy Spirit shows us as He did that day with me that we have disobeyed and gone against Him whether we were conscious of our disobedience or not.

Please Father help us to be humble and to do your will always. Please forgive us for when we do not. Thank you for your perfect will and plans for our lives, for your mercy and protection, for your warnings, and most of all for you, dear Lord! Amen.

“I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.”” Psalm 40:8

“Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.” Psalm 143:10

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:23

Living Sacrifice

For years I periodically thought about, talked about, and wrote about the Bible verse below in which we are told to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to the Lord, but I neglected to notice two crucial aspects of the verse which the Holy Spirit one day brought to light.

First, we are to surrender, or sacrifice, our WHOLE hearts and lives to Christ and to live fully for Him. There is no mention in the verse about surrendering to Him just what we want to give to Him. We are to give ALL!

Second, there is no mention of sacrificing, or surrendering, ourselves to Him once in a while when we feel like it, when we’re in the mood, when we agree with what His will for us in a particular matter is, etc. We are to surrender ALL of ourselves to Him ALL THE TIME. CONTINUALLY! The Lord in His mercy by the power of His Holy Spirit will enable us to do just that!

Father, thank you for this teaching as hard as it is! Thank you for equipping us – those who follow you – to persevere no matter the sacrifice involved. Our sacrifice is nothing compared with the sacrifice you Jesus made on the cross! Help me and help us all to press on following you dear Lord, Amen!

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1

Okay Lord!

When the Lord told me to do something, my response was quick, simple, and a far cry from what it had been for years and from what it can be when I fall back into my old fleshly ways.

“Okay,” I replied.

Submission and surrender – right away. That, my friend, should be the reply of us all the time when the Lord God almighty speaks to us directly from the pages of the Bible with His commands and directions as well as when He speaks to our hearts by His Holy Spirit who only and always speaks in line with the Bible.

Sad to say some of us respond to the Lord when He tells us to do something with resistance, debate, questioning, anger, arguing, delay, a temper tantrum, a bad attitude, a sour face, self-pity, and outright rebellion – and a whole host of other wrong responses to the Lord and His will for us.

I should know. I have a long history of wrongdoing in my response to the Lord. Lots of repentance along the way, lots of humbling myself necessary, lots of room for growth, lots of growing by the grace of the Lord, and I remain a work in progress with thank the Lord alone much progress yet always room for more improvement!

Once we are clear the Lord has spoken, have sought Him from clarity and confirmation if we are not fully clear on His will, and have sought godly counsel if and as He leads us, we need to respond the right way as His children and servants which as His followers we are.

Humbly, lovingly, reverently, respectfully, submissively, faithfully, we are to surrender to the Lord and His commands and directions with no hesitancy and the right attitude.

Okay! Yes! I will Lord! And so shall we obey His commands and directions.

Forgive us Lord for all the times we have resisted, debated, argued, and outright rebelled when you have revealed to us your will! Help us to be submissive, loving, humble, obedient – and thankful! Thank you for your patience with us. Help us to be the children and servants you want us to be, Amen!

“You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him.” Deuteronomy 13:4

Okay Thank You Lord!

Shortly after I wrote the message called, “Okay God” about immediate submission and surrender to God when He tells us to do something, He took me a significant step forward and gave me this message.

The Lord told me to do something, and I found myself saying, “Okay, thank you.”

Not only did I submit to His will and obey Him, but I found myself thanking Him! In retrospect, I believe I could see the wisdom in His will and was thankful for His love and care for me!

For years, I rebelled. Then for a long time, I resisted then obeyed. But my obedience was not always with the right heart. Self-pity, complaining, dragging my feet in my obedience, joylessness, lacking thankfulness, etc.

Now though I still fall so very far short and need repentance along the way, I am learning to submit and surrender and obey with a humble, thankful heart. Hallelujah! Miraculous for someone like me! Only by God’s grace! All for His glory! Need this message? I most assuredly do!

Father, your love amazes me. Your mercy is astonishing. Your patience is indescribable. Your kindness is so beautiful. How you don’t give up on us who follow you is awesome. How could we ever thank you enough? Thank you for teaching me about obedience through the years and for using me to help others to learn to obey in a way pleasing to you. Please have mercy upon us and teach us day by day your amazing ways. So seemingly impossible to obey you continually and with a thankful heart, oh so hard on the flesh obedience can be. But I believe in the power of your Holy Spirit, by your grace, through faith, we can learn to obey you in a manner that pleases you and brings you glory. So help us oh Lord, and, Lord, THANK YOU for this message I sure need and hopefully others reading this will be blessed by you through it as well! I love you Lord! Thank you for your love for us, oh Father, AMEN!

“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

I Want to Go There!

“Where are you headed?” I asked a lady leaving the motel where I was staying on my journey on the road for Jesus with my beloved handicapped ministry doggies.

She named a place and left in an apparent hurry.

“Oh that’s where I want to go!” I exclaimed almost as soon as she had gone. Whether aloud or in my mind, I don’t recall. But the Lord heard! Oh, yes He did! And He had something to say about this!

“You’re going to stay right here which is where I want you,” the Holy Spirit immediately spoke to my heart.

Not so very long ago I called Jesus Christ Lord but lorded it over my own life and lived according to what I wanted and how I felt instead of seeking and following Him as Lord.

Friend, we are to live not for self but for the Lord. Where we go and what we do in life is not to be about self-gratification and pleasing ourselves but about loving, pleasing, and obeying the Lord.

I have enough experience now in this life of living utterly for Christ by God’s grace alone that I have discovered there is much greater joy – and lasting joy – in loving and obeying the Lord and in fulfilling His will for our lives and in drawing closer to Him than in pleasing the flesh and enjoying what are only temporary pleasures when they are not the will of God.

The life of being sold out to Christ most certainly has its pleasures, but they are of a deeper, enduring quality and have more to do with intimate fellowship with Christ and spiritual blessings like love, peace, hope, contentment, fulfillment, rejoicing, joy, etc. than with physical temporal earthly pleasures. Rest assured the Lord does bless us in physical, tangible ways as well, but these blessings are to be decided upon by the Lord and are to be godly not ungodly pleasures.

In the verse below, the Lord shows us a time when people will love pleasure more than they will love Him. Seems to me we are living in such a time as this, are we not? Don’t be swept away by the world’s ways. Love the Lord with all your heart which is His greatest command and obey Him in all things no matter the cost to your flesh!

Father, increase our faith. Help us to be strong in choosing right over wrong, in choosing your will not ours, in denying and dying to self and living utterly for you, beloved Father, AMEN!

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,” 2 Tim. 3:1-4

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:15
