TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL WHERE ARE YOU GOING, MY FRIEND? “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 Yesterday, I expected to hear the news that a beloved friend after a long arduous life-threatening medical trial had been taken off a ventilator in the hospital and died. Instead, I was told she had woken up from her apparent coma and began to speak. A miracle of the Lord. She may live for another day. She may live for 25 more years. The Lord numbers our days on this earth. My friend told me once she had been looking up to the heavens since she was a child excitedly waiting for the Lord Jesus Christ to come again. Oh, how she loved the Lord even as a child! When she was diagnosed with a deadly disease, she had peace. She knew either she would survive and the Lord would be with her here on this earth, or she would die and go be with Him for eternity. There is NOTHING and NOBODY more important in the universe than THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and we don’t know when we will draw our last breath. The only way to forever with God in heaven instead of eternity in hell and the lake of fire is THROUGH THE LORD who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead. We are given His glorious gift of forever life with Him when we turn from our sins, believe in and receive Him as Lord, and devote our lives to God and His ways. This life is temporary. Eternity is not. Where and with whom will you spend it? |
