TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION BE READY TO MOVE “Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert. So he arose and went.” Acts 8:26-27 “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 “So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.” Acts 9:6-8 One thing that stands out to me in the Bible when it comes to the Lord’s servants and followers from the start of the Bible to the finish of it is that those who were totally committed to the Lord were ready to go when the Lord said go. They were prepared to move when the Lord said move. And they got up and went when He told them it was time. Those who truly loved the Lord obeyed the Lord, even when this meant going to new locations to do whatever He desired they do there. When the Lord gave them their marching orders, off they marched. No deliberation. No debate. No arguing. No resisting. No rebelling. Oh, sure, we all know Jonah rebelled before he repented and went. But those who from the start walked in love for and obedience to God almighty did what? AROSE! And WENT! For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been on the road for Jesus. I literally live day by day waiting for the Lord’s instructions. When He says it’s time to go to a new location, He knows my heart. I will go. He has convicted me when my heart was rebellious, He has led me to repentance when my heart was resistant, and He has taught me true love for Him and genuine obedience means I need to be ready at any moment to arise and go for the glory of Christ. Our culture teaches us to move when we want to move based on what’s in it for us. How will the move profit us emotionally, physically, financially, dream-wise, based on personal goals, dreams, desires, etc. But friend, we are to live for Jesus. And this means we need to be fully willing – and ready – to go when and where and to whom He sends us according to His plans and purpose. We pay a price in the flesh to deny self, don’t we? But oh, the thrill, the excitement, the joy, the wonder of being in Chris’ts forever fellowship and drawing ever closer to Him and experiencing the awesomeness of living to bring Him love, pleasure, praise, worship, and glory! AMEN! p.s. When the Lord tells us to move, it may be to another country for missions work. It may be down the street to lovingly help a widow. It may be to the living room to share the Gospel with a family member. It may be to another city for new work. It may be to move forward in the work we have been hesitating to do. It may be to move ahead in making the decision He is compelling us to make. It may be into a new relationship. It may be to move forward in our education because He is leading us to new work where we can show people the love of Christ. It may be to move to a new place spiritually by making a much deeper commitment to Him and to reading the Bible and learning to live by it. Whatever it is, wherever it is, when it is for the Lord, we need to arise and go forth! |
