|TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL|
TIME WITH JESUS
“My beloved spoke, and said to me:
“Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.” Song of Solomon 2:10
I was just about to start sending a dear friend an email when the Spirit of God stepped in.
“This is my time with you,” He told me. “Do you want to spend it with someone else?”
It was as though everything in the world stopped for a moment while His words penetrated my heart. Pierced my heart. Broke right through.
What mattered most? My time contacting a friend? Or taking that time with Jesus?
Oh, Father, forgive us for all the times we have looked around you, looked past you, looked through you, looked away from you, looked elsewhere, looked to something or someone else in the time you called out to us to tell us you wanted us to come away from everything and everyone to be in your presence and spend time with you.
Paul the apostle called himself the chief of all sinners. He couldn’t have been for I am. The worst of all sinners. And here is an area I fall short. Father, forgive me, forgive those reading this, forgive us all for every time we have not heard you calling because we were too busy, too preoccupied, too distracted, or that we heard you but ignored your call. Oh forgive us! Help us to hear you, help us to draw away from the temptations of this life, and to come spend time with you. In Jesus’ precious most holy name, AMEN.
Will you come away with the Lord, friend? Will you come spend time with Him daily? As many times a day, in fact, as He calls you to Himself? May we do this! For He is Lord! And nothing and nobody in our lives should take precedence over Jesus Christ, forever Lord, forever God, forever and ever King, AMEN!
