When Jesus freed the demon-possessed man, the man BEGGED – yes, BEGGED – Jesus to be with Him. Jesus told the man to go tell others his testimony of what Jesus had done, and the man obeyed.
How many of us are BEGGING Jesus to spend time with Him? How many of us are spending time with Jesus and the Bible at all? How many of us are doing so daily? For those of us who are, do we see it as a nothing more than a boring, bothersome obligation? Something to check off our to-do list? Something we have to hurriedly get out of our way to get to what matters most to us?
Or do we see intimacy with Christ, time alone with Him, and a forever relationship with Him as an unfathomably wonderful and glorious amazingly awesome blessing?
There is a time to spend time with Jesus and a time to go tell the world about Him, and we should be committed to do both as and when the Lord leads us – and to be humbled and thankful for the incredible privilege and honor of being called by God to do both!
Lord, lead us to do both! Thank you, thank you, thank you there is nothing greater in the universe than you, a forever relationship with you, and the time you bless us with to be alone with you as well as the time to tell the world about you. Help us to get and keep our priorities in order. May you be our first and forever love. Help us day by day to be totally devoted to you! AMEN!
“And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.” Mark 5:18-20
