Ever felt crushed? Heartbroken? I am sensitive. I feel stuff deeply. I am emotional. I have a humungous heart. My heart has been broken countless times over the years. Whether or not people intended it, so many times so many people have hurt me. And it didn’t hurt just a little. With my big heart, with my sensitivity, oh how it hurt. Oh, how it still does when it happens. Heartbreak. Heartache. Ouch.
One day I felt so hurt by what some people did. Tears came. I felt crushed all over again. But this time I did something different. I didn’t go to the world looking for comfort and a fix. I didn’t build a big brick wall around my heart and determine to distance myself from people to not risk any further hurt. I didn’t push God away. I didn’t go hide under the covers. I didn’t consider not moving forward with the day. I didn’t think about not loving and serving the Lord with all my heart and loving and serving others in His name. I didn’t hold any grudges toward the people. I didn’t refuse to love them, forgive them, and pray for them as God calls us to do. I did something so simple. I went to the Lord. And prayed. A very simple prayer.
“I feel crushed,” I told the Lord. “Take my heart in your hands and heal me.” I prayed. Then I went on with my day.
This world offers a zillion ways to deal with hurt and heartbreak and heartache. I have tried many of them. Some have been negative and dangerous and even potentially deadly. Others seemed positive and helped some but the help was only temporary. I have since found the #1 and only 100% guaranteed fix for heartbreak.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and the Bible. Oh, sure, we can and should reach out to others as the Lord leads for love, comfort, prayer, and encouragement and support. But people are imperfect and the love, comfort, encouragement, prayer, and support we offer one another though wonderful and helpful can never measure up to the amazing and awesome love and comfort and blessedness and healing and fellowship of the Lord.
Heartbroken? Turn from your sins. Believe Jesus Christ is Lord and in His death and resurrection. Turn your life over truly once and for all to God and His ways. Receive His forgiveness and the promise of a forever relationship with Him. Be filled with His Holy Spirit. And whenever your heart breaks and aches, love and forgive those who have hurt you, pray for them as the Lord leads you, and seek and follow God’s will regarding whether to stay in their lives or not and how to address any issues in your interaction with them.
Above all else, SPEND TIME ALONE WITH THE LORD POURING OUT YOUR HEART TO HIM, FINDING REST AND HEALING AND HOPE AND JOY AND FELLOWSHIP AND WISDOM AND COMFORT IN HIM, PUTTING YOUR TRUST IN HIM, COMMUNING WITH HIM, PRAYING TO HIM, SEEKING HIM, HEARING HIM, BASKING IN THE SUNSHINE OF HIS LOVE, ENJOYING HIS LOVE, PRAISING AND WORSHIPING HIM, WHATEVER IT IS THE LORD PLACES ON YOUR HEART TO DO IN YOUR TIME ALONE WITH HIM, THEN CONTINUE ON WITH YOUR LIFE WITH THE LOVE OF JESUS FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, OH YES, AMEN!
“Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.” 2 Cor. 1:2-6 KJV
