What if every person with whom you get upset, who irritates you, who drives you crazy, who drives you nuts, who makes you angry, whom you would give anything to turn your back on, who hurts you, who you feel is too needy and obnoxious and annoying and difficult, etc. were an awesome opportunity?
An opportunity to love. An opportunity to forgive. An opportunity to be kind. An opportunity to give. An opportunity to be merciful. An opportunity to be humble. An opportunity to serve. An opportunity to pray for someone. An opportunity to help. An opportunity to do for them whatever the Lord desires. In the name of the Lord for the glory of the Lord. In obedience to God’s greatest commands to love Him with all your heart and to love others as yourself. What if?
What if instead of hurting the people who make you feel like tearing your hair out, screaming at the top of your lungs, lashing out at, seeking vengeance toward, being mean to, gossiping about, judging, and condemning, crying out your heart because of, etc., you decided to do what Jesus would do? What the Lord wants you to do?
What if you realized these people need the Lord, need His love, forgiveness, grace, mercy, salvation, provision, and help, and need to see the Lord’s love in others? What if you saw each and every one of these people for the rest of your life from this day forward as an opportunity to obey God’s greatest commands?
Let us not miss our opportunities, friend. Let us humble ourselves before God almighty, repent of any sinful thoughts, feelings, words, and actions, and choose to seek and follow the Lord in how He leads us to love and serve others in His name. For His glory, oh yes!
