I am totally devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ and live and breathe to love and glorify God and to tell the world about Jesus and am called by God to be on the road full-time for Him and ministry, but I am just as human as anyone else. I am just as much in need of God’s love, mercy, forgiveness, strength, grace, patience, wisdom, correction, chastening, help, support, encouragement, and transformation as anyone else if not more so. No surprise then that I woke up one day tired from a super long week, irritable, impatient, and cranky. Headed down the wrong path. Then all of a sudden I made a big declaration.
“I am a new creature!” I wrote. I have an ongoing conversation with the Lord in my journal-notebook on my computer. I write to Him prayers and questions and pour out my heart to Him. And I write down what He speaks to my heart. Including Bible verses at times.
A new creature? Yes! All who turn from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and that He died on the cross to pay our sin punishment and was raised from the dead, truly dedicating our lives to God and His ways, are saved from God’s wrath and hell and the lake of fire, forgiven, and given everlasting life with Him. We are born again spiritually and given a fresh start in life. We are called by God new creatures (King James version of the Bible) or new creations (NKJV version).
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
We are new creatures or new creations, but this does NOT mean we always think, speak, and act that way! We are made new by God but still have the choice and decision to make moment by moment to think, speak, and act like we did before we repented and received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior – or to be the new people God created us to be.
When we think, speak, and act like the old person and not the new creation, we are to turn to God for forgiveness and get back to the business of being a new creation.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
I had some turning back to do that morning. So I could press on being God’s new creation.
Goodbye irritable, impatient, cranky, and all the rest of a sin-ridden life. Hello living in the “newness of life” in Jesus the Christ!
“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4
A loving reminder to you to devote your heart and life 100% to the Lord and to be a new creation in Christ, through Christ, and for the glory of Christ, AMEN!
