I Have a Word for You

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.” 2 Chronicles 7: 14-15

I spent several HOURS writing my usual Daily Inspiration for the day before the Lord brought me to repentance for not seeking and hearing and obeying Him about what HE wanted me to write instead of writing what I wanted to write. But my repentance, or change of mind, over my willfulness with my writing was not enough. Real repentance comes with a change in action. God wanted me to turn away from my sin and turn to Him. Then He gave me the message He wanted me to deliver to those who will read my Daily Inspiration. One single word. One life-changing word. One word that could change a person’s entire eternity. Here is the word I have for you.

Turn. It is NOT enough to pray. It is NOT enough to seek God. It’s not enough to say I’m sorry. I don’t know what you’re holding onto. I don’t know what you won’t let go. But God knows your hiding place. He sees what you have tucked away in the dark. He seeks the nooks and crannies where you believe nobody will ever see. He sees over your shoulder and under your covers and behind your masquerade. And no matter the lengths you have gone to in order to convince yourself your pleasure in this thing will never bear any negative consequences, payday is coming. He wants to forgive you. But first you must turn from your wickedness, and all sin against God is wicked.

Come out of the dark, turn away from whatever this wickedness is that you hold in the depths of your heart and life, turn from the past, turn from the ways of this world, turn from evil, turn from believing it’s okay because the government says it is, turn from convincing yourself it’s alright because everyone else is doing it, turn from deceiving yourself that it’s not hurting anybody or anything, turn from justifying it because of how hard your life may be, turn off the highway that much of this world is traveling on. Turn. Turn unto God through Jesus Christ who died and rose again so you would be free. Turn to the ways of the Lord forevermore.
