“I lost the battle,” I told the Lord one night none too happily.
“Yes, you did,” the Holy Spirit readily agreed.
“There are more to come,” He then said.
“You don’t have to lose the next one,” He finished.
I needed this reminder. Do you?
The devil had come hard at me that day with his usual arsenal of weapons aimed at wrecking my ministry work that day. I didn’t recognize him nor did I recognize the battle. Dangerous not to see your enemy nor to see you’re on the battlefield.
I finished off the day feeling defeated, deflated, exhausted, and down. The devil wants us to feel this way so we quit and don’t bother with the next battle. So he can shut us down as quickly as possible. So he can stop the work of God in and through us as much as possible.
I was battle weary and needed to rest in the Lord. I needed to get refreshed and ready for the battles ahead. Victory would come again. In Christ.
The Lord had encouraged me. Just as I desire to encourage you now. Lost a battle? Maybe even a bunch of them? Spend time with the Lord. Seek His presence. Seek Him in prayer. Open the Bible. Pour out your heart to God. Seek His forgiveness for anything you have done wrong. Seek wisdom from Him. Rest in Him. Trust in Him. Believe in Him. Get refreshed now. Get ready. For the war wages on. And, in Christ, through Christ, and for Christ, we who believe in and follow Him will ultimately have the victory!
Father, when we’re battle weary, restore, refresh, renew, and revive us please, dear Father! When we don’t see the enemy and forget we’re in a war, remind us. Give us wisdom, oh Lord, that we would win our battles. Forgive us for when we fall short on the battlefield, dear God. We need you, oh Lord. Each and every breath we take. On the battlefield and off the battlefield in our times of rest and refreshing. Oh, yes, we need you, oh Lord, we need you so very much! Strengthen us for the battles ahead, dear God. Amen!
