“What I did was wrong, God,” I prayed when I sat back down in the sunshine.
How could I take another step or breath for that matter before acknowledging my wrongdoing?
I suppose you are wondering what heinous, atrocious sin I committed.
Suffice it to say in the grand scheme of the darkness and evil of this world, my sin would to many seem very small.
But see, my remorse wasn’t over the size of my sin. It was because of the awesomeness and greatness and astonishing beauty, love, grace, mercy, sovereignty, majesty, and glory of the Lord. And because of how much I have grown and continue to grow in loving Him and desiring to honor, revere, and fear Him.
I despise my sin more and more as I love the Lord more and more – and more. Oh, how I long to please my Jesus! My Lord! My King! My Savior! My redeemer! My healer! My Father! God almighty in heaven! And to honor and adore Him! And to humbly repent when I stumble and fall.
Pride prevents us from repentance. Repentance we need to begin a forever relationship with the Lord through faith in Him as Lord who died on the cross to pay our sin punishment and was raised from the dead. And repentance we need as we follow Jesus day by day once we enter into forever fellowship with Him. Purifying ourselves all along the way as we learn to faithfully follow Him.
Lord, lead us to repent whenever we need it, be merciful, teach us to love and fear you, cause us to humble ourselves before you, and help us to desire to bring you praise, honor, joy, pleasure, worship, obedience, service, and glory, forever and ever, AMEN!
