But why? Because God created us in His image. When we are saved by grace through faith by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing God raised Him from the dead after He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so we can have a personal relationship with God and be promised everlasting life, guess what happens. We BEGIN the PROCESS of BEING conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.
God who BEGAN this work in us promises in His Word to FINISH this work in us. In between BEGINNING and FINISHING this process, God tells us to renew our minds by studying His Word so He can TRANSFORM our lives to be like Christ. God does not expect us to have achieved perfection as a result of placing our faith in Jesus as Lord. He wants us to yield our lives to Him so He can perfect us over time.
Have you ever seen a house that has undergone a DEMOLITION so a new house can be CONSTRUCTED? First, the old house has to come down. Then, the new house is built. Between the coming down of the old decrepit house and the completion of the beautiful new home is the CONSTRUCTION process.
If your life is UNDER CONSTRUCTION, just make sure your builder is God. Make certain your foundation is Jesus Christ. And thank God that He loves you so much that He wants to build you into the woman or man of God He created you to be. In His image. For His glory.
Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.” Genesis 1:26 NASB
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;… Romans 8:29
Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thingI do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 NASB
