People talk about wanting to know God’s will for their lives to they pray to God to reveal to them His will for their lives. This is good. This is vital. This is necessary. This we should do on an ongoing basis. But this is not all.
We need to seek God and His will for our lives. We also need to spend time listening to the Holy Spirit of God who lives inside His followers who will speak to our hearts His will for us. We should also read the Bible daily and make sure what we believe we hear from God lines up with the Bible because God never speaks out of line with His Word. We should also seek counsel if/as/when the Lord leads from fellow followers of the Lord Jesus Christ to help discern God’s will for us. And then comes something absolutely critical.
WE NEED TO DO GOD’S WILL FOR OUR LIVES!
I am afraid some desire to know God’s will for them and seek God to make His will known BUT THEN PICK AND CHOOSE WHEN THEY WANT TO OBEY GOD AND WHEN THEY DON’T WANT TO FULFILL GOD’S WILL.
Friend, we are to ALWAYS OBEY GOD. No matter what He tells us. No matter His will for us. No matter the cost to our flesh. No matter the price we have to pay. No matter what we have to forsake and sacrifice.
Always, absolutely always, we should seek, hear, and obey the Lord!
Jesus Christ is Lord, and we need to live our lives in obedience to the Lord. We are to submit to His lordship now and forevermore, AMEN!
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?
Luke 6:46 NKJV
“Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21 NKJV
““Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5:17 NKJV
“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1:9-10 NKJV
