It’s Only Porn

“Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Cor. 6:18-20

It’s only porn. That’s all it is. So innocent. Compared to what others are doing. It’s all relative, isn’t it? It can’t be sin, can it? Okay, even if it is sin, sin against God, it’s not so bad. Not really. How can it be? Look what the rest of the world is doing. You call it sexual immorality. Seriously? How can it be called that when you look at what everyone else is doing when it comes to real sexual immorality? Yes, real sexual immorality. Get real. How can it be hurting anyone to be stuck behind a computer in the middle of the night, or buried in a magazine, or going to that bar in the middle of nowhere that nobody knows about? How can it be hurting God? How can it be hurting anyone else? In this day and age, porn is nothing, isn’t it? It’s so easy to get away with, especially when the world’s so riddled with sin, so caught up in its own sin, its “worse” sin. Okay, so there’s a little guilt that goes along with it. And a little shame. And a little bit of a hangover after. And, oh yeah, there’s all the stuff that goes along with it. You know. Well, maybe you don’t. The stuff people do when they use porn. While watching it. Afterward. Later. With others. With oneself. But that’s not the point. The point is this. It’s only porn. Right?

If that’s what you’re thinking, please stop deceiving yourself. Porn is sin against God almighty. Porn is sin against others. Porn is sin against oneself. Porn destroys. Porn breaks things like hearts. Porn kills. It kills a relationship with God for those who already have one. It keeps those who don’t have a relationship with God from having one. It kills relationships with others. It kills marriages, families, and friends. It kills purity. It kills trust and hope. It kills love and dreams and futures. It kills the present. It kills peace. It kills joy. It kills potential and possibilities. It kills people’s hearts, including children’s hearts.

Is the temporary pleasure of porn worth it? God tells us to flee sexual immorality, not to run to it. Which way are you running? If you need to turn and run away from it instead of running to it, turn to God. Repent. Give your life to Christ. Fully. Without holding back. And receive from God the love, strength, mercy, forgiveness, the resources, the help you need to end your relationship with porn. To flee from it and never turn back. To run into the arms of the Lord. Because it’s not “only porn”. If you’re honest with yourself, you know it’s time to tell it goodbye. And to be Christ’s forever.
