latest THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL

“Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” Phil. 3:8……

I know a precious woman of Christ who fell in love with a man who loves Jesus like she does. Upon realizing marriage seemed the most obvious way to proceed in their beautiful love for one another, they went to the Lord in prayer. The woman believed with all her heart Jesus wanted her all to Himself, so the decision was made by the woman and man to sacrifice the marriage they desired to honor the Lord’s desire for the woman to be wholly devoted to Christ.

The woman could have ended up angry, hurt, and bitter toward God for desiring she forsake her human desire to marry the man to be fully consecrated to Christ. Was she sad? Oh, I can only imagine she must have been. But what I saw was humility, thanksgiving, and a desire to draw closer and closer to the Lord and to be fully pleasing to Him.

It can be so very hard to let go of what and whom the Lord desires we let go, and we may go through all sorts of emotions in the process, but there is simply nothing as wonderful, beautiful, thrilling, and humbling as receiving the Lord’s love and living our lives to love, please, honor, and adore Him!

May the Lord be your number one, and may you be willing to forsake all for Him!
