PLEASE BE SURE TO SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SEE THE WHOLE ISSUE OF TODAY’S GOOD NEWS DAILY!………..
TODAY’S LITTLE LETTER FROM LARA…………..
It’s the end of a long day, and I feel I got so little accomplished. In the world’s eyes, that’s probably true. But then, I realize I loved the Lord with all my heart. I loved others as myself. I spent time alone with Jesus. And I told people about Him and how to have an everlasting relationship with the Lord. And I prayed. Is it possible, friend, that our idea of “accomplishing” things in our everyday lives might be very different than what the Lord desires of us? Is it possible my day today was pleasing to the Lord despite the fact I didn’t “accomplish” a long list of things I would have liked to have done in my ministry work?
Let us turn to the Lord and to His Word for His direction, and may the Lord be the judge not the world nor ourselves.
Love & blessings,
May today’s scriptures bless us, encourage us, and may the Lord use them to bring conviction and to lead us to go forth in His love, AMEN!
TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATION
THE MAN WITH SWOLLEN FEET
Maybe the rest of the world wouldn’t have noticed, but I couldn’t miss noticing my homeless friend’s swollen feet. I had spoken to him and prayed for him just days before when I found him in his wheelchair sitting in the virtual darkness feeling down and despairing. I had talked with him that night, prayed for him, and brought him a little snack. Now it was daylight, a few days later, and I could see the severity of his swollen feet.
Our conversation was brief, but it was so humbling, and beautiful, what the Lord did in the midst of it. In my simple act of caring about his feet, in my noticing and asking questions and giving some suggestions, the man who just minutes before had seemed so wilted had perked up as though he had come back to life. It was as though he had blossomed. Why such a change? Simple. The Lord had used me as His little vessel to pour His love through me and onto the man with the swollen feet. The man had simply needed to know he was cared for and loved.
Please, friend, look for opportunities to show people the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everywhere there are hurting people in need of Christ’s love. Be His vessel. Please.
TODAY’S THE CROSS DEVOTIONAL
My paralyzed dog Miss Mercy can scoot around on her knees when she’s not in her wheelchair, but paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon has virtually no mobility without his wheelchair. He depends on me for everything, and I’ve learned through the years to be extremely sensitive to his needs such that I know when he needs food, water, medicine, a pressure sore attended to, a skin infection treated, a pillow brought to him to make him more comfy, a towel between his legs to help avoid infection due to incontinence, his belly band diaper changed, and just plain old love and attention.
Probably many if not most of us have something or someone in our lives about which or to whom we have learned to be extremely attentive, but nothing and nobody is more important when it comes to sensitivity and attention paid to and devotion given to than the Lord Jesus Christ. Above all else, we should have our hearts, eyes, and ears attuned to the Lord and to His commands and desires so that in each and every day He is our greatest love!
TODAY’S SERVING JESUS IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE
Two of my precious homeless friends in New York City sat in a little park with me today besides their rolling carts of all their life’s possessions helping me fold my Gospel tracts and devotionals. We loved, we laughed, we talked about the Lord and the Bible, and the three of us poured our hearts into preparing little booklets the Lord will use to spread the Gospel message and help people to follow Him.
One of my homeless friends doesn’t yet believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and simply has questions. The other believes in the Lord but doesn’t seem to be turned to Him right now. But neither one hesitated for a moment to help me with something with which I so very much need help.
I wish I could say through the years the countless Christ followers I have known when hearing of my ministry needs have jumped at the opportunity to serve the Lord in helping, but the reality is exceedingly few have. How humbling, and convicting, to see two people in dire need of Christ and of receiving help to get off the streets jump headlong in serving the Lord when so many professing to believe in Him have so often turned the other way when asked if they can help.
I am in no place to judge as I fall so very far short of the Lord’s glory day by day, but I am in a position to encourage all of us – myself included – to humble ourselves before the Lord each and every day and to be willing, obedient, and faithful in whatever He gives us to do for Him.
LATEST MINISTRY UPDATE & PRAYER REQUEST
I am astounded at the numbers of people to whom the Lord is leading me in New York City and beyond to talk to about Him. I have no doubt I am only able to keep up in the love, mercy, grace, hope, and strength He gives me. Would you please pray for me as often and as much as you are led however the Lord so leads you?
Please if you would include in your prayers the wherewithal to deal with the emotions of dealing with countless people continually pouring out their hearts and stories to me including so very much heartache and brokenness. I trust the Lord to give me all I need to love and help and encourage them to believe in and follow Him, and I thank you for your prayers toward that end!
love & blessings,
