Dear friend, ……..

A woman in a motorized wheelchair was driving herself down a New York City sidewalk with a huge smile on her face when I felt such a strong conviction from the Lord about my own heart and countenance on a regular basis. When I focus on the Lord and the Bible and my blessings, the biggest one being an everlasting relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and the amazingly beautiful relationship I have with the Lord right here on this earth day in and day out, I am filled with love, peace, hope, joy, etc. When I shift my focus off the Lord and onto my trials, battles, and struggles, I fall quickly……..

There was this woman cheerfully riding in her wheelchair with an appearance of joy and thanksgiving while I so often fall prey to being worried, self-pitying, discouraged, negative, etc., despite the countless blessings the Lord bestows upon me day after day.

The woman in the wheelchair could have been moaning, groaning, complaining, and self-pitying given she was bound to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Instead, she seemed perfectly happy and content. The Lord used her that day and brings this back to my memory now to remind me that He calls His followers to rejoice. To be joyful. To be thankful. To be content. To be hope-filled. To be at peace. To walk in His love. To praise Him. I smile even as I write this. For because of Christ and in Christ and through Christ and for Christ we can have and be and do all of this. For our joy is not to be contingent on our circumstances, but to be founded in Christ!

Rejoice, friend, rejoice, in the Lord Jesus Christ, AMEN!

love & blessings,
