Laughter Amid Trials

Life is full of trials isn’t it? Jesus didn’t promise us the perfect life. In fact, He said we could rest assured we will have tribulations. The hope for those of us who repent and place our faith in Him who died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so we can be forgiven by God and promised eternal life is not that life will be easy. In fact, for some, it will be anything but. Where, then is our hope?

Our hope is in Christ. Our hope is in that He overcame the world when He rose from the dead. Our hope is in that those of us who believe in and follow Christ can have a relationship with God while we are on earth and that we will spend eternity with God in heaven. So what about our trials and tribulations? The Bible is jam packed with how to get through life’s challenges, but again, there is no promise the challenges will not come.

But I have discovered that amid it all, even when I am bogged down in one trial or another, there are if I keep my heart open to opportunities to enjoy the lighter side of life along the way. Such is the case when it comes to laughter. For as I hang onto the Lord who is my hope, and plod through this burden or that one, as I trudge through one challenge or another, I must not forget to enjoy the journey along the way.

And, should I at times become too serious, as I have been known and prone to do, it seems God always affords me the enjoyment of finding something amusing to bring up the sides of my lips into a smile and my heart into a joyful reminder that all of this world is temporary. What is forever is the Lord. So even amid the trials, as I set my hope on Him, I must keep myself open to enjoying the view along the way to eternity with my beloved.

Don’t miss the opportunities to smile and laugh along your journey walking with the Lord. And, most importantly, no matter the nature or the heights and depths of your trials, or how often you have opportunities to smile and laugh, remember to rejoice in the Lord.

Joh 16:33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Php 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
