“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Rev. 21:1-4

Will anyone get through this life on earth without pain? Impossible, isn’t it? Whether it be death, tragedy, trauma, emotional heartache, the end of relationships, friends moving away, lost dreams, natural disasters, sickness, hurt, rejection, abandonment, addictions, arguing and fighting, nasty words, lost jobs, poverty, homelessness, people hurting each other, violence, bad news, whatever it may be, no matter how small, no matter how big, no matter how often, or how rarely, we all face pain, don’t we?
Do you realize, I mean really, really realize, that for Christ’s followers, we literally will live in a place FOREVER with not a single ounce of pain EVER? Have you really thought about this? Can you imagine God wiping away our very tears, with His magnificent hands, His loving fingers erasing them from our eyes, the hurt and pain being forever erased from our hearts, and our experiencing indescribable love and joy in His presence without end? Without any end at all?
No matter our brokenness, our hardships, our trials, tragedies, and tribulations on this earth, and for some of us they seem relentless, endless, and for others, perhaps less so, the Lord PROMISES us forever freedom from all of this in everlasting paradise with Himself when we believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and our hearts and lives are truly, genuinely, sincerely, really devoted to Him as Savior, as God, and as Lord forevermore!
We may not feel like thanking God now if we’re in the midst of terribly painful and trying circumstances, but we can thank Him that He is God, that He will bring us through, and that we will one day be with Him face to face without a single tear ever, ever, ever, not ever again!
