“Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.” John 4:34…………
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:38……
Please be careful when it comes to this. Sometimes we have prayed to God, have sought God, and have heard God, and know what God wants us to do, and are clear about it, but then convince ourselves either that we haven’t yet heard from God or that what we have heard from God is not from Him. So we look for another answer, a different way, something easier, more palatable, more comfortable, more appealing, more pleasurable, less challenging, more self-satisfying, etc., and convince ourselves what God told us isn’t what God told us, or that God never spoke to us at all, and that what we find more tasteful and enjoyable and pleasing to ourselves and involving less risk and requiring less courage and what will make us happier or feel better or anything at all to do with self and self-fulfillment and self-satisfaction may very well be from God. So off we go in search of and convincing ourselves of the answer WE want, and we justify it and chalk it off to God’s will of course. Or we claim we haven’t heard from God and need to continue praying to and seeking Him when in fact we know plain and well we have heard from God. We just didn’t like what we heard!
We are not on this earth for ourselves and to love and serve self, friend. We are on this earth for the Lord and for others, to love and serve God and others. Our greatest joy, and contentment, and satisfaction and fulfillment and pleasure and excitement should be found in living for Christ and desiring above all else to love and glorify God and to love others in Christ’s name, and we should pray and seek God’s will in order to do God’s will – not to toss it to the wayside pretending it’s not God’s will so we can go off in search of pleasing ourselves.
If the Lord has called you to do something, and deep in your heart you know it’s His will and you’re sure it lines up with His Word because the Lord only and always speaks in line with and gives direction according to His Word, and you have sought godly counsel if and as the Lord has directed you, please don’t pretend you haven’t heard from God. Please get busy loving and glorifying God by doing what it is He has given you to do. He will give you the love and strength to do it, and the joy you will find in denying self and glorifying God instead will be immeasurable as the Lord through your obedience draws you closer to His immeasurably unfathomably magnificent self!
The Lord Jesus Christ, as He declares in the verses above, came to this earth to DO THE WILL OF GOD IN HEAVEN! He died on the cross and was raised from the dead so we who repent and believe in Him as Lord, committing our lives to God and His ways, ARE GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE AND LIVE TO DO THE WILL OF GOD IN HEAVEN! Praise the Lord!
