Not Now

I had a good idea. So I started to put it into place. Something I figured the Lord would want me to do. Something in fact He has called me to do. So off I went to begin. It didn’t take long for me to hear the voice. THE VOICE. The Holy Spirit speaking to my heart. Two simple, plain, powerful words.

In God’s love for us, He has perfect plans for our lives – and perfect timing for His will for us. And fulfilling His will for us is not enough. We also need to obey Him in HIS TIME. And when God says, “Not now,” He is making clear that it is NOT time. Not HIS time.

I learned the hard way just because God reveals His will for us does not mean the timing it necessarily now. It may be. It may not be. In our love for God in response to His love for us, we need to seek the Lord regarding His will and His timing. Rest assured He will make it all clear to us.

If we find we have rushed ahead and started doing something that is in fact God’s will but is not His timing, let us humble ourselves, repent, turn to Him, seek Him, wait on Him, hear Him, and obey Him regarding His will AND His timing.

There are so very many ways we can and should express our love for the Lord to Him. Obedience is key. And, in this obedience, may our timing not be our own – but His. Hallelujah!

Oh, Father, forgive each and every one of us for when our timing is wrong. For when our timing is our own, or someone else’s, or the world’s, when it is any timing that is not your timing. Forgive us, oh Lord, for when we fall short of your perfect will and timing for us. Teach us to wait on you. Teach us to pray to you, to wait on you, to hear you, to obey you, to trust you in all this, that you will speak to us, that your will and timing are perfect. And, oh God, help us to be patient, not anxious, trusting, not doubting, excited but willing to wait, help us be pleasing to you Lord in our thoughts, words, and actions regarding all things in life. Oh, God, help us to honor you in everything, dear Father. Help us to discern your will and your timing, dear Lord. Give us wisdom, dear God. Oh, help us dear Father, and be merciful as we learn to faithfully, humbly, lovingly, and reverently follow you day by day through faith in and genuine devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ – day by day and forever and ever, AMEN!

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” James 1:5-8 KJV
