Paralyzed Man Finally Gets Help

0
Psa 121:1  A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Psa 121:2  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

Have you ever felt paralyzed, stuck, unable to move, because you just can’t find anybody to give you the help that you need? Have you ever been frustrated, discouraged, depressed, bitter, resentful, self-pitying, impatient, or even considered giving up, because nobody has come along to help you? Have you ever placed your hope and expectation in a particular person, or a particular group of people, to help you, only to be crushed, angry, and miserable when they let you down and failed to help you? When Jesus Christ asked the man who had been apparently paralyzed for 38 years if he wanted to be healed, the man didn’t say yes.

He replied that not a single human being in 38 years had given him the help he thought he needed by carrying him into the pool of water where others were getting healed. Can you imagine how discouraged he must have been? If Jesus had not come along and healed him, he might have spent the rest of his life physically paralyzed and mentally a wreck from placing his expectation in humans. Though God might use people to meet our needs, He does not want us to set our hopes and expectations on them. He wants us to place our hope and trust in Him.

If you feel paralyzed, stuck, unable to move, in a certain situation, is it possible you need to shift your focus off a person or people on whom you have set your expectation and place your hope and trust in the Lord with the belief He will meet your need in His way and in His time which is best?

Joh 5:1  After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Joh 5:2  Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
Joh 5:3  In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Joh 5:4  For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
Joh 5:5  And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
Joh 5:6  When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
Joh 5:7  The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Joh 5:8  Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Joh 5:9  And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
