“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Cor. 10:31
Dictionary.com says one definition of the verb pervert is “to turn away from what is right.” Also, “to turn to an improper use; misapply.” Perverted includes in its definition, “turned from what is right; wicked; misguided; distorted.” Let me be frank. The Lord has gifted me in writing, I have been writing fervently on and off since I was a little girl, and for years the gift the Lord gave me was perverted. How so, and can you relate?
I used writing for myself, for the world, and for the devil. I used it to feel good, to gain attention, to get approval, to get acceptance, to look for praise, to make money, for my sake, the world’s sake, and sadly, though unintentionally, for the devil’s sake. The gift the Lord had given me, though not on purpose as I did not know any better as I was not a fully devoted Christ follower, was dedicated to me, this world, and the devil. I perverted the gift God had given me. I perverted its purpose. Times have changed.
Today, thanks to the Lord and a woman He used years ago to bring me to repentance and to ongoing transformation by God’s Spirit through God’s Word, the gift of writing in my life is devoted to the Lord Jesus Christ and to telling the world about Him and helping people to believe in and follow Him. Simply put, above all else, I use the gift to glorify God.
Quite plainly, I use the gift of writing for the glory of God almighty. Do I enjoy writing? I LOVE LOVE LOVE to write! But my primary purpose is not for my own pleasure. It’s for the glory of Christ Jesus! I am blessed to vastly enjoy the gift as I use it for God’s glory!
Back to my question. Can you relate? The Lord has given each of us gifts – to be used for His glory! Are you using the gifts He has given you for yourself, this world, and the devil? Or, have you devoted your life – INCLUDING THE GIFTS GOD HAS GIVEN YOU – to the glory of Christ?
If you aren’t using God’s gifts for God’s glory, please do as the Lord led me to do. Repent and devote your God-given gifts to Jesus. Live and breathe – and use your gifts – to glorify God. To bring Him praise, pleasure, joy, and honor!
It all begins with repenting and believing in Jesus Christ as Lord, that He died on the cross to pay your sin penalty and was raised from the dead – and fully dedicating your life, gifts included, to God almighty, AMEN!
